About 3MB of files with names like nn-g27967.02~ have appeared in
my .nn subdirectory. They appear to contain article headers. Can
I delete them without breaking nn?

Yes. NN flips out somtimes and does that. I put a "rm .nn/nn-*" line in
my .logout file to keep them from accumulating.
