how to read non-nyx newsgroups?

Umm this might seem silly, but I cant seem to figure out how
to subscribe to any new newsgroups. When I do the "groups"
command after the "c" communications command, I get an error
message saying no such file. Help?

I really doubt you'll see this message since I'm responding a
month after you posted, but...
I use trn, so I usually just write "trn newsgroupname"
where newsgroupname is the new newsgroup I want.
If I'm lucky, it'll actually stay as part of my new newsgroups
in my file.
