Clarification on Cometa Scholarship Terms and Conditions

Dear Cometa Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you with a few questions regarding the commitment letter for the Cometa Scholarship. I would appreciate it if you could provide some clarification on the following points:

1.-  Upon reviewing NYU’s cost breakdown, I noticed discrepancies in the allocations for Housing and Food, Books and Supplies, and Transportation. These figures seem to be lower than NYU’s estimates.

• The allocation for Housing and Food is approximately $500 below the amount established on NYU’s website. (The estimated cost of attendance at NYU includes housing and food expenses, representing a student living in a double-occupancy room and having three meals per day).
• The budget for Books and Supplies is approximately $400 less than the figure provided by NYU.
• The Transportation cost does not seem to consider our transport within NYC (metro card), which is crucial given the nature of our college and the constant movement around the city it entails.

We understand that these calculations are complex and may vary based on different factors. However, we believe it is important to align the scholarship’s financial support with the actual costs we will incur during our studies at NYU. My colleagues and I believe these expenses are essential and cannot be reduced.

My parents and I would greatly appreciate your explanation of these specific points about the economic resource distribution. We kindly request the Cometa team to consider this data so that the calculation of these essential expenses can be properly fulfilled, taking into account the extensive research that NYU has conducted for each of these supplies. 2.- Secondly, I would like to bring your attention to Clause III.2. This clause states that the Intercorp Group grants the scholarship for one year, and if the studies are satisfactorily approved and no scholarship revocation event is incurred, it is extended for an additional year, referring to two years, and not clarifying the duration of the 4 years of undergraduate studies. Could you please clarify what this clause means? Why does it only refer to two years when it is later explained that a four-year career must be chosen? We would appreciate it if this clause could be corrected to make it clear that the scholarship will be renewed each year up to the four years that our undergraduate studies last.


3.- I believe that Clause 4 could also be clearer in that line.


4.- In addition, I noticed a mention of insurance in the commitment letter. Could you please provide more details about this insurance, including what it covers and its duration?

Sobre el primer punto:

• Los montos de tuition, housing y food son estimados ya que NYU nos mandará el Bill final en cada term y nosotros lo pagamos completo. Tenemos contacto directo con ellos.
• Por el lado de personal expenses, les estamos cubriendo todos los gastos del housing y del comedor universitario, es por ello que el estipendio mensual busca cubrir transporte, laundry, y algún otro gasto de estudios o vida que se pueda necesitar de acuerdo al protocolo alcanzado. El gasto que ven de transporte es solo el traslado del aeropuerto a la universidad. Asimismo, en consulta con NYU y estudiantes de la universidad, les recomendamos utilizar los buses, o caminar (cuando sea walking distance) para que puedan utilizar su pocket money wisely y no siempre utilizar taxis o metro en hora punta. En cuanto a los libros, también en consulta con la universidad y los estudiantes, estos se pueden comprar usados, alquilarlos, o sacarlos de la library, no todo tiene que ser nuevo. Sin embargo, el monto de los libros, más el estipendio mensual debería cubrirlo sin problema.
• De igual manera, el equipo hará seguimiento durante el año con los reportes de gastos trimestrales para ver saber cómo están utilizando los recursos y recibir feedback.  

Sobre el segundo y tercer punto:

• La carta de compromiso se renueva anualmente de acuerdo con las notas de los estudiantes terminado el año académico por el periodo de duración de la carrera que es de 4 años.

Sobre el cuarto punto:

• El seguro que cubrimos con Cometa es el que brinda la universidad; te pedimos revisar la página web para que puedas indagar sobre los detalles del coverage.
