Physics Textbook and Blackboard

I called the Physics Department today about which textbook to buy, because on the NYU bookstore website it's listed as "No Materials Requested". They said that if the teacher wants us to get a textbook he would tell us the first day and we would have a week before we would really need it. And regarding blackboard, I think that nobody in the class has it yet, so it seems like they are just haven't set things up yet.
