Hi Everyone,

The study group idea got a lot of positive feedback, so we are certainly going ahead with it.   We'll meet in room 410 Silver at 6:45 tomorrow (tuesday) evening. The goal is to finish the problem set problems and lecture problems. For each problem, we'll have someone prepared to present the solution, so I hope our goal is realistic.

For most of us this is right  through dinner time, so feel free to bring snacks. We'll also probably have a 5 minute break at about half way through.

If you feel comfortable with it, you can still sign up to present a problem to the group. Let me know by email (yonah....@gmail.com), and we can choose which one. A variety of speakers can make a tedious topic much more interesting, and we all appreciate that.

Best,
Yonah

    Hi everyone,

I got the answers to all the problem set problems from a course tutor who has weekly meetings with Prof. Hogg. He gave me the answers plus the related information that he thinks Prof. Hogg wants us to know for the exam. Some friends asked to go over them together, so we can make a study group that will finish all the problem sets on Tuesday evening at 6:45 in an empty classroom on the fourth floor of Silver. The goal is to finish all the problem set problems and lecture problems in under two hours. I hope to also include the introductory concepts and background that often gets glossed over in our lecture, as time allows. If you want to join please let me know by email (or you can just come by without emailing).

(It would be nice if other students would also prepare one or two problems and present them to the group- it's always better and more interesting when different people add and contribute, and it will also make it easier for me. If you can take any problems, please let me know which ones by by email so we can organize who'll do each problem.
If you can do that, please keep in mind these points. We want to finish all the problems in a reasonable amount time so each one should be between 4-8 minutes. Try to explain the introductory concepts and background , as they are often glossed over in our lecture and as postbaccs we haven't taken high school physics in the past couple of years. If you'd like to take a lecture problem, don't present the whole lecture, just the problem and solution. Please send any emails to to yonah....@gmail.com rather than hitting reply and sending it to the whole group. Thank you!)

    Good luck!
