Hi,
I couldn't figure out how to draw the TLC on ChemDraw, and this email  below showed me how.   I hope it helps you too.   Good luck with it.

Dear Francesca,
I hope you are enjoying the extended weekend.

I'm having trouble with two parts of the lab reports. Do you have time to explain it?

1) I can't seem to find how to draw a TLC on ChemDraw. Where can I set it to  JACS1996? And how do I bring up a TLC image?

2) On Blackboard, Abel wrote "Explain the purpose of the staining with anisaldehyde. Why do the spot become colored with this reagent?"  I understand that  it is colorless and the anisaldehyde interacts with it and stains it. Does Abel want anything more specific than that?

Thanks,
Yonah

Hi,

1)If it's not already on  acs 1996, then go on Object and then apply settings from....there is a list choose acs 1996
To make TLC:  view...scroll down... other toolbars...advance tools...a small (very small) window appears... and you see a small (very small) TLC on the right. Click that TLC button then click the document and drag the mouse while it is clicked to adjust the size and number of lanes.
for more options, click here

2) for the anisaldehyde you want to try to explain why it becomes coloured

Hi,
Sorry for the multiple messages today.

I just sent an email about drawing TLC on ChemDraw, and a few people showed me that the second to last line of the email got cut off  . So the corrected part is below. The rest of that email seems complete and accurate.

Sorry and good luck,
Yonah
