Hi everyone,

Although many of us assumed that there would not be Lab for the first week, they changed that this year and lab will start this week on your scheduled day. My lab was today and it was only check-in. We did not need goggles or gloves and we finished in less than an hour.

For more info, see Blackboard. Although the "announcements" area is empty, the 'Course Information' and 'Course Documents' have the syllabus and some other stuff. (The same is true for Prof. Jones's Blackboard.)

Best,
Yonah

Last year the Monday labs ran a week behind the other sections, at least until Thanksgiving (I think only the Monday lab meets that week, so it evens up by the second half of the semester).

Orgo Lab is a LOT of work; expect to spend a lot of time on lab reports and preparing for the prelab quizzes. I don't mean to scare anyone, I just mention it so that you don't feel badly if it's a struggle at times.

One thing I wish had been different last year is the Discussion Board feature on Blackboard--it was mostly Q&A with the faculty, and I think it would have been a lot better if more students chimed in to answer each other's questions and participate in active discussion. I'd urge you to hijack that board early in the semester and make it friendly place to work through common frustrations.

Good luck, and be safe in lab!

Rebecca
