I just came from the bio tutorial and the tutor said she thought 4 was B but wasn't 100% sure. I was also wavering between C and B but came down on the side of B after looking back on the lecture slides.

I have also been going back and forth about 4, between B and C....  Any other thoughts?

My thinking was that for answer C diagnosis is central to all speciation concepts so while C is right B is more specifically right for the phylogenetic concept?

I agree with the line of thought that C is the answer.  The slide where Prof DeSalle introduced the concept defines it as "An irreducible cluster of organisms, diagnosably distinct from other such clusters."

Agreed, c.. plus, that naomi bio tutor has been wrong on previous hw questions, so i wouldn't really take her word all the time.

Yeah I mean I have quoted from lecture:

"The phylogenetic species concept is the most operational, since it constitutes the idea of diagnosis, and it unifies the biological species concept with other concepts. It regards species as an irreducible cluster of organisms diagnosably different from each other."

That's why I went with C as well...it's also a question on last year's exam...of course.

hi.

sorry to reply so late...not sure if this will be helpful at all, but the way i see that question is what the concept itself was based on, so i'm putting b...
