I'm curious--has anybody gone to see this yet?  If so, is it any good?

Saw it. Thought it was okay. Wasn't a fan of the frenetic, ADD-style camera work that turns much of it into undifferentiated porridge in which the individual ingredients become an indiscernible, bland mishmash. (I gather that's the director's style, but it just didn't work for me.) Sound design was similarly maximalized, and story was ridiculously sensationalized. It's like, if the knob is turned up to level 10 the whole time, you start not to care about anything. The not-all-that-many table tennis points they showed suffered as well on account of those same directorial choices. Too many jump-cuts and that sort of thing. On the plus side, the sets, costumes, etc. were very nice to look at, and it was also a compelling psychological profile of a very flawed but recognizable character. I think the director actually wants you to like him by the end. He failed to achieve that for me, as I found him (talking about the character, not the real guy) repugnant from beginning to end (and I actually thought that was a largely unintentional merit of the movie, where the director stayed faithful to the character he had created despite his own intentions to give him a quasi-redemptive Hollywood story arc). But I expect other people will have a different reaction, both to the character and to the movie as a whole. Don't get me wrong: I didn't think it was awful or anything. It was pleasant and nice to see a movie that tries to sensationalize table tennis. Just didn't think it was anything great.

Funny--what you say reminds me of this video the ITTF just dropped last week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw4mcecaUtE&t=1s - "100 yrs. in 100 seconds".

It's supposed to commemorate the 100 yrs. the ITTF has been in existence.  It was embedded in this article: https://www.ittf.com/2025/12/31/welcome-to-2026-celebrating-100-years-of-table-tennis/
