3. Will formalize the membership by soliciting membership fees of $25.00 (still to be discussed)

4. I assumed and accepted the presidency for the year 2017 to help form the group again. Will establish Board advisers/members. Will also elect/select the other officers who are able and active in helping run the alumni assn.

6. We invite all Bedans to participate in the Simbang Gabi on Dec 6 (Tuesday) at 6pm PH Consulate as we are one of the hosts among the coalition of other school alumni. Good to note that our present Treasurer Tony Abad has for these years given our share of $150.00. for the SG. Thank you Tony!

Please feel free to comment and give suggestions as this is a task with all Bedans who want to take part in this reactivation of the group.

Dear Edwin,
Thank you and congratulations on taking the post as 2017 president of NYSBCAA!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I will be n Manila Dec 6 - January 17, so will miss out on Simbang Gabi and the Dec 15 meeting. .

May I propose an evening or afternoon of theater to bond, network and raise funds for NYSBCAA? My theater company, Ma-Yi Theater Company will be presenting a rock musical PEER GYNT AND THE NORWEGIAN HAPA BAND, by Michi Barall, a world premiere, in midtown Manhattan.  The idea is to sell to the group at a discount rate . These tickets are then resold to members and friends and colleagues at a higher price  (we can tier pricing) and everyone gets to see a fun show and have a meet and greet after or before the performance. The show runs January 17 to February 11. I will send an Information Kit to you in the next day or so with details. Just a thought to get Bedans together in a cultural/social event and raise money for the association.

I will contribute towards our share of the Simbang Gabi. Pls advise to whom to send the check and in what name…Maybe used as a formal proclamation of a revived reinvigorated NYSbCAA...

Thank you all - God bless

Jorge

For all these years, the NYSBCAA was kept afloat with contributions mainly coming from Doc Louie Kodumal (Philadelphia), and Tony "Nito" Abad (Connecticut).  We cannot thank these two die-hard Bedan Catholic gentlemen enough especially this Thanksgiving.  Maraming maraming salamat, Louie and Tony.

I join Art in giving special thanks to Louie and Nito for helping ensure our financial stability all these years.

On another financial subject: did I read earlier -- in an email from Nito -- that a continuing cost for us is the annual fee that we pay to the U.S. Govt. to maintain our tax free status?  My memory may betray me on this, but I remember being struck by the relatively hefty amount of that fee.  If I'm right, and since the NYSBCAA  is not regularly engaged in any substantial income-earning activities that would merit having a tax-free status, would it be a good idea to now drop that status?

Regards and cheers to all!
Leo

That fee to maintain tax-free status is news to me.  Nito, did you keep that from everybody and paid for it yourself all these years?  All you had ever asked from me was the use of my NY address.

Corrections:
Your term is at least two years. Also, the simbang gabi dues is mostly shouldered by Louie Kodumal. I just send the checks.

I forgot already - No, I did not have to pay anything substantial when I was reporting.  When the IRS changed their rules, they automatically de-activated ours.  I tried to activate it several times but never got through because I had to do it online and really never got it done.  It involved submitting our previous reports but the IRS system was not user friendly.  I even called them but did not really get anywhere.  It remained on my to-do list - even up to now. Maybe somebody else can re-start the process.

Tony

Tony
