Hello everyone,
I have an exciting event to announce to you all and a request for
submissions. NYU, NYSAE and EMF are jointly presenting an event as
part of World Listening Day,
http://www.worldlisteningproject.org/?p=1037.
Please find details below as synopsized by Sofia degli Alessandri, a
masters candidate at NYU who has been instrumental in putting this
event together. Please note, I will be leading a sound walk in and
around Washington Square Park, as a pre-amble to the presentations.
Also one of the rooms has the possibility of 16 channel playback and
the other rooms have the possibility of surround sound playback if you
have pieces encoded for that format.
I will be fielding submissions from the NYSAE list and sending them on
to Sofia so if you are interested in submitting please let me know at
edmund...@gmail.com as soon as possible. My deadline for
submissions will be the 20th of June. This is a great opportunity to
get your work heard by the greater NYC community!
thanks,
ned
announcement for Sofia,
Hello all,
With just over a month until World Listening Day, we are pleased with
all those who have come forth as volunteers and submitters. We wanted
to send out a reminder and last call for submissions for our event,
which will take place Monday July 18th, 2011 from 4:30-9pm on the 6th
Floor of Steinhardt's Education Building (35 W4th Street).
Description:
On Monday, July 18, organizations and individuals around the world
will be listening to the sounds of the world. In collaboration with
Electronic Music Foundation and the New York Society of Acoustic
Ecology, NYU is presenting a program of compositions and field
recordings based on the sounds of New York City. Free and open to the
public, the event will take place on the Steinhardt 6th Floor from
late afternoon into the early evening.
The event is shaping up well, but we would love to get more
submissions from the NYU community. Once again the submissions can be
anything from a stereo field recording of New York city, to an
interactive performance using environmental samples. Anything that
involves environmental sound, field recording, and the environment are
welcome! For this event you will be able to play back or perform your
piece in either the Dolan studio, the research lab, or the conference
room. Collaborative projects are highly encouraged.
As mentioned in the previous email, we're still looking for volunteers
to help in the organization and production of the event.
Please get in touch with us as soon as possible to let us know whether
you're interested in submitting a piece. If you could also include an
approximate length, format, and reproduction method of the piece it
would be great.
More information on the event can be seen below.
Thank you,
Sofia degli Alessandri
