Hi All,

Wonder if it is worth responding to emails such as the below, to inform people that NYCCAT as many of us knew it is not in existence.  Hard but necessary to encourage others to advocate for themselves with or without a formal organization.

I have been invited in October to meet with the NAAP board of directors regarding overlaps between LCATs and LP concerns.  I will check in again later, but please let me know if anyone has any specific questions or concerns I should address.

Kristin

Natasha,

THANK YOU for such a clear and thorough account of your experience with insurance companies. I've been fighting with Medicaid for the past eight months (they "approved" twenty sessions, like you said, and I haven't seen a cent). Your post is very encouraging and I will heed your advice. I also think that it would be beneficial for NYCCAT to take on an active role in demanding (or at least lobbying!) that NY state insurance companies should be REQUIRED to honor New York State licenses!

BTW: There are twice as many LCATs in NY State than LMFTs, and almost three times as many than LPys. LMHC is in the lead, however with twice as many therapists as LCATs.

With gratitude,
Jennifer Tantia

Due to some requests from people in the list serve and general questions that have appeared recently, I posted on my blog a very long post about my experience with this topic. Here is the link: I hope this proves helpful/useful...

Kristin and All,

I had the same thought to respond to the e-mail on NYCCAT...then thought it might be the responsibility of the former NYCCAT Board - if they chose to do so.

Forgive the ignorance - Im not sure if anyone on this group was previously a NYCCAT Board Member....

As for the LPs - this is a wonderful connection and I totally support your efforts!
