Hi All,

     I had lunch with the President of NPAP who is working on issues around the new psychoanalytic license.  She mentioned that LMHC’s have joined forces with them around hiring a lobbyist and all issues around advocacy.  I am trying to get details in writing from her, and they are slow coming, but she said she would speak with her board of directors around sharing information and potentially joining forces.  Their biggest concerns at the moment are (1) money, (2) Medicaid on a federal level and (3) getting clear approval to diagnosis on a state level.  Will share more information if/when it is offered.

HI everyone,

 

Cara unexpectedly went out of town.

 

Here are the minutes from our discussion. It was pretty tricky getting the full extent of each person's comments, so at times it is just a sentence or two which is represented from each speaker. I think the minutes outline the discussion well enough for us to proceed at the next discussion. I think it might be useful for each representative to flush out their thoughts and send it as part of preparation for the next meeting. One thing that I didn't document but remember discussing was each organization electing one representative to be part of the next call so that it wouldn't be all of us calling in. Is that what others remember as well?

Hi Kristin / Everyone-

 

This is such wonderful news....

 

Perhaps we could discuss at the next meeting if it might benefit us to have LMHC and Psychoanalysts representation in our group.

 

Just some agenda items while they are in my head:

 

1) What are there advantages/disadvantages to possibly forming a Licensed Mental Health Providers Leadership Group (with all under the same umbrella) vs a CAT Leadership group.  This may be a crazy idea but I would be curious to discuss it with our group and what we could accomplish working together and increasing our number and forces.

 

2) The LMHC's lobbyist is Heather Evans who was amazing to work with us in 2013.  If the Psychoanalysts are using her as well.....is this a direction for us?

 

Just my immediate thoughts that I wanted to put out there for discussion next meeting.
