Fundraising for the victims of Typhoon Ketsana - Calling for Volunteers!

Mercy Relief is organizing a fundraising drive on 11 and 18 October 2009 (Sundays) to raise funds for the victims of Typhoon Ketsana.
Typhoon Ketsana a.k.a. Ondoy, landed in Luzon on Saturday morning, 26 September, bringing over 400mm of rainfall within 6hrs, causing a severe and deadly flash floods
(water level 6 feet) in 25 provinces and cities. The Philippines government have declared a state of calamity and made an appeal for international aid.
After the Philippines, Typhoon Ketsana continues to wreak havoc in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. This disaster has left more than 300 dead, hundred thousands of houses
destroyed, over 2 million people affected and more than 400,000 evacuated in these South East Asian nations to-date.
Mercy Relief is sending a preliminary team to the Philippines to assess the ground situation and to oversee the dispatch and distribution of the first batch of relief supplies:
· 10,000 packs of rice sticks
· 3,000 packs of porridge for the very young, sick and elderly
· medicines (painkillers)
· blankets
· water purification tablets
Mercy Relief has obtained its fundraising permit from the COC and will be collecting donations from the 29 Sep -18 Oct 2009.
We seek your participation in this island wide fundraising event, details as follows:
Dates: 11 and 18 October 2009 (Sundays)
Shifts: Shift 1 - 9am to 12noon
Shift 2 – 12noon to 3pm
Shift 3 – 3pm to 6pm
Reporting Locations: to be confirmed, we will have reporting points at different parts of the island
