After buying a scansnap ix 1600 and setting it up yesterday, today (Oct. 27, 2023) it would no longer scan to evernote (although you could still select evernote in the software). I was informed by technical support for the scanner that they no longer support evernote and there is no way to download the previous version of Scansnap home wich does support the software. After using this combination for over 10 years, for them to sneak this in the backdoor like this is utterly bone-headed. Buyer beware, look for other scanners and return the one you have if you can.

As @mackid1993said, scan to a folder. Actually what I do is scan to my PC download folder. Make any tweaks such as changing the file name. Then I drag and drop onto a shortcut that I have in the downloads folder which points to an Import Folder. This actually works better for me than scanning directly into Evernote.

Well, just got a call back from scansnap with heartfelt apologies that I had been misinformed by support. Apparently a manager saw my post/heard a taped transcript of my call and had their top Evernote expert call me. We got evernote up and running on both the Mac and Windows 10 in about 10 minutes and I was told they are planning on supporting evernote in the future. Whether this was a false alarm or a sudden change in policy, you be the judge, but for now it is working fine. Fingers crossed!

Does anyone know what the answer is to this, without having to call ScanSnap? I just did an upgrade on ScanSnap home the other day and should have known better. Seriously, every time they do an update they take away functionality and now I cannot scan directly to Evernote. I get a login screen ad when you try to login, it says "Client not supported, please upgrade."??? So frustrating. I only bought a Fuji scanner because it worked with Evernote.

I am not interested in creating a system having to manage folders and manual imports. I want to scan directly to Evernote and several posters said they've somehow figured out how to do that. That is what i am interested in as I've done a lot of searching and not found any info. My scan direct to Evernote was working fine until a couple days ago when I did an update.

That's the main reason why I think saving it local, having it OCRed while it does and then send it into EN via Import Folder is the better approach. It reduces the rework in EN as well: The file name is used as note title. Scan originally often have weird file names (what the scanner thought would fit). By correcting them while saving into the Import Folder, I get proper note titles, and don't need to touch the imports any more.

Yesterday, this scanner stopped connecting to my home network and despite trying all my best, I just couldn't find my WiFi SSID in the available network list within the scanner, while it's able to see other network SSIDs and connect to them.

I have now reset both my Oribi and the Scanner to factory settings and all my devices at home have reconnected to the Orbi router/satellites, but the scanner is still not able to see my WiFi SSID from the Orbi system, but only able to see other WiFi SSIDs.

First forget the Orbi network in the scanner and set it up from scratch again. Sometimes devices remember and expect specific wifi config settings beyond just the SSID and password, then unable to reconnect.

Next to try, what wifi channel(s) and security option do you have set? The ScanScap ix1600 supports both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz, you are probably using WPA2 and should try setting specific channels for each of 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz (vs. auto). See if the scanner is able to detect and return in its options list your Orbi network if you try some different channels.

Hi - I have had exactly the same issue with the scan snap ix1600. My home network is orbi and the scansnap can't see it at all. I took the scanner to work which is Apple extreme and it works. Not sure if that means it's the orbi that's the problem ?

Found that if you edit the registry, you can delete the ctrl+sft+space from SnapShot. Find the PfuSsMon32.cfg file (Mine was located in my ApplicationData/PFU/ScanSnap. There were others in subfolders of ScanSnap, but you want the one in hte main folder). This document opens in Notepad. Right below the first line which states [config], insert:
IsRegist_HotKey=0
as a new line. This will eliminate the keyboard shortcut from bringing up scansnap.

as title suggest, scansnap autoupdate located in programdata folder is reported as ransomware. i dont have the exact location because i am not near the computer but i have access to it remotely and trying to find the log where it shows what it cleaned up, and cant find the right log.

This will launch the Windows Event Log. Expand to find the Application Event log and scroll down or filter to find event ID 911. There should be a Hitman Pro existing filter but searching the Application event log should do.

If you have a ScanSnap S1300, S1500, or S1500M scanner, you should be legitimately worried that its 32-bit software will no longer run in macOS 10.15 Catalina. Dave Kitabjian discusses your options, with an in-depth look at third-party scanner software VueScan.

I have used VueScan for many years and love it. I would not have been able to scan with my rather cheap scanners without it. I too have found their support excellent. Also second that it is primarily a Swiss pocket knife for people looking to use odd brand or under supported scanners rather than a replacement for an expensive scanner with proprietary software. I hope someday to buy a ScanSnap but they are a bit above my wallet lol. Thanks for a very complete and interesting article! Most informative.

My workflow is pretty simple: the overwhelming majority of scans are duplex, save as .pdf, deskew, crop, and OCR. It did take some fiddling to get the options the way I want, but VueScan has performed quite well. My environment is high-volume, time constrained, and overall demanding in ways that home users would never experience. I scan a diverse array of documents (though few photographs; those all start and stay digital) of various sizes and shapes. On my S510M alone (possibly my lowest volume but also my oldest device) I have scanned over 25,000 pages. Once I got the settings dialed in (not trivial, but it only took two or three days) everything has worked great. I have not seen the cropping problems that Dave described, which would have been a deal killer for me. I have had far fewer failed scans that I did with the ScanSnap software, though that might be due to no longer using WiFi, which was the source of a lot of grief with the ScanSnap software.

I originally licensed VueScan because I owned an expensive flatbed scanner whose manufacturer abandoned the Mac. I feel rescued by VueScan again, and will be buying more licenses for other machines at my office. In my case, at least, it was the droid I was looking for.

Second, one fairly important function available in the newer hardware (which was not available in the older model from 7 years ago) is Wifi support. The newer model supports connecting with the scanning software on my iMac over Wifi. The wireless functionality did not seem particularly important in 2012, but such functionality is now almost required.

Fourth, like one of the other readers, I can confirm that the ScanSnap ix1500 with the new ScanSnap Home software works without internet connection through the bundled USB-3 cable and without putting documents into the Fujitsu cloud service. One caution, though, with my test: I am still operating in Mojave 10.14, not Catalina 10.15.

I have a ScanSnap ix500 purchased in 2013. Is it possible to load the PC drivers into Parallels (running under Catalina) and extend my hardware life? Or will I encounter the same 32-bit issues? Thanks for your informative article with options.

Before upgrading to macOS Catalina, I installed both Sierra and HighSierra as bootable partitions or volumes on my external SSDs. Booting between OSs is quite fast, and the older OSs have been slimmed down by deleting all unnecessary files and programs. This is a practical approach that allows me to continue using my Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 with the 32-bit ScanSnap software. The HighSierra partition will shortly be deleted, because there are still problems using the ScanSnap software with it. The ScanSnap software works perfectly with Sierra. The SSDs allow quick restarting when I change over from Catalina to an older OS and when I switch back after the scanning is finished. ScanSnap on Sierra scans to a folder on Catalina so that scanned files are easy to get to when I restart Catalina.

I was wondering if you were aware of the issue with the ScanSnap scanners where the blue light keeps blinking when you open the top and the ScanSnap button on the task bar shows the scanner is not ready to scan?
