to NYNJ Trail Conditions
Friday 1/31/09
Northwestern Harriman (LP, RD, AT, Menomine, Nawahunta Fire Road: Snow
with 1/2" or more hard crust over several inches of powder. Under
this is a base of ice. Close to 100% snow cover. Most streams frozen
over and will support walkers. Snowshoeing possible on crust.
Barebooting possible, but traction aid recommended.
Thursday 1/30/09
West central Harriman (Kakiat, RD, T-MI, Blue Disk, Victory, White
Bar, T-MI, woods roads, White Bar). RD and T-MI below Smith's Den
very icy, with hard-frozen footprints. Other trails snow with up to
1/2" hard crust. Lots of ice. Snowshoes not indicated. Traction
aids HIGHLY recommended. Streams frozen and crossable with care.
