Coming up this weekend (14-15 June) will be the "rerunning" of these two well-established races. Last year they were not held but they will now take place on the same weekend. On Saturday, 14 June there will be the Tupper Lake 9-Miler which will follow the same course as it did in 2012. It will start from the Rod and Gun Club boat launch on Simond Pond, go out onto the Pond for 0.8 miles and then turn to follow the shore line to the cut into the Raquette River. The race will proceed up the river to the top of the Oxbow at 3.65 miles and then return via the Raquette River to Simond Pond and back to the start. The distance will be about 7.5 miles. There will also be a shorter course for recreational paddlers and SUPs that will turn before the Le Boeuf's Bridge over the Raquette River at about 2.4 miles and then go downstream to Simond Pond and back to the start. This distance will be about 5 miles. Both courses will be well marked.

The boat launch is off Lake Simond Road which is off NYS 30 on the west side of the Village of Tupper Lake after the bridge over the Raquette River. There will be signs. There is a large parking lot at the boat launch.

The Saranac Flatwater Challenge will be held on Sunday, 15 June on the Saranac River and start at Picketts Corners, which is 34 miles east of Saranac Lake and 16 miles west of Plattsburgh on NYS 3. The race goes down the river and then returns to the start. There will be three courses. One will be for recreational paddlers and there will be a turn buoy at the 2.4 mile mark. There will be a course for stock canoes with a turn-around buoy at 4.5 miles and the long course will have a turn-around buoy at 6.3 miles. SUP paddlers can elect to do either the 4.8 mile course or the 9 mile course.

There will be signs on NYS 3 indicating the location of the race. Parking will be available in the swimming pool area and also along the road from NYS 3.

Both races begin at 11 AM and registration will be onsite and from 9:30-10:30 AM
