After a day of butterflying, while relaxing on my porch, I counted 49 as they flew by in 1 1/2 hours. I'm sure I missed some too. It brings back memories of several years ago when all of my nettles were stripped with so many caterpillars. I was afraid many would run out of food. At Wallkill NWR the nettles in the fields were also stripped to bare stems. It was amazing to see that many caterpillars.
