Hi everyone,

It was wonderful to see many of you these past few days.

Unrelatedly, I've been asked to help circulate this job ad. Please share widely!

warmly,

The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Miami, invites applications for a faculty position in anthropological linguistics to begin August 15, 2026. The rank of the appointment is tenure-track assistant professor to tenure-eligible associate professor, as appropriate.
We seek a research-driven anthropologist with a demonstrated record of or the potential for external funding that leads to peer-reviewed publications. We encourage applicants who will advance our departmental commitment to interdisciplinarity and a four-field approach. Geographical, theoretical, and research specialty areas are open with preference given to a candidate who applies advanced visualization modelling and data analytical methods, as well as an applicant who can teach introductory and upper-level courses in sociolinguistics. The successful candidate will also demonstrate how they can contribute to the university's growing interests in data science and AI, and their qualifications will demonstrate an active program of high-impact research coupled with excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
A Ph.D. degree in Anthropology or a related field is required by the start date of the appointment. Applications must be submitted through the University of Miami’s Career Opportunities website, located at  https://umiami.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/UMFaculty. Please compile the following documents into a single PDF and upload under the CV/Resume link: CV; cover letter; statement of teaching philosophy; teaching evaluations (if available). Please also arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to anthro...@miami.edu.  Review of applications will begin immediately and close Dec 1, 2026.
