Dear Devotees, 

Sharadotsav 2015 is almost here.  As we celebrate Durga Puja starting Sunday, October 18, the NY Kali Mandir is delighted to bring to you one of the most talented young Bengali singers, Shovan Ganguly, who will be accompanied by two accomplished Kolkata musicians, Sumit Guha and Arnab Chakraborty.

Shovan Ganguly was the winner of 2012 Saregamapa, a musical reality show on Zee Bangla.  He first got noticed in the national scene, when he participated in the Indian version of the show, X factor.  Shovan started young, learning music in childhood, Shovan has 7 years of training classical Indian music. Shovan’s first guru in music was his father, Swapan Ganguly.  After his initial training under his father, Shovan went to learn classical music at Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty’s school, Shrutinandan.  He trained there for seven years before joining composer Abhijit Bandopadhyay.  His versatility as a singer is his strength and his energy and enthusiasm always makes his live performances a memorable one.

 

Shovan performed in many cities during Durga Puja 2015. He was also invited to perform in NABC 2014, Orlando and 2015, Houston.  We are so happy to start off our Durga Puja celebration with Shovan and his group.
