Puja Festival in Spring, Basanti Puja Festival
We will be celebrating Basanti Puja from March 25 to March 28). We would start with Saptami on Wednesday, March 25, Ashtami on March 26 and Ram Navami on March 27.
Basanti Puja is a springtime festival dedicated to Goddess Durga, celebrated primarily in Bengal and parts of eastern India. Unlike the grand autumnal Sharadiya Durga Puja, Basanti Puja honors the goddess during the Chaitra month (March–April), symbolizing renewal, fertility, and the blossoming of life. The festival traces its roots to ancient traditions where Durga was worshipped in spring. According to mythology, King Suratha and Samadhi Vaishya performed the first Basanti Puja seeking the goddess’s blessings, as described in the Markandeya Purana.
