Assalam walaikum everyone.
I wanted to thank everyone for coming to the retreat this past weekend. We had such a memorable time. In order to capture the memories, we will be sending out a link
soon that everyone can use to upload their pictures and videos. Please use the link as quickly as possible so we can all enjoy.
Cost
I'm in the process of tallying the shared expenses for the trip so that we can get to a final cost per person. If you purchased something for the retreat, please email (
aran...@gmail.com) or text
(914-646-5095) me the amount and what it was for. Please do this by Friday night.
RecapWhen we first looked at all the food, I know it looked like we over-did it. However, on almost every food item, we were almost right on point with the quantity. Sure we took a few things home, but some inaccuracies are to be expected. Even the "Egg Debacle" wasn't as bad as it seemed; if people were able to stay for Sunday night and leave on Monday, there may have actually been a shortage. I'm awful at estimating food (probably because I eat too much), but the team that did this did a great job.
The paya and nihari were a big hit.The s'mores were delicious. On the
other hand, the tent was a fail and the telescope had no lenses in it.
However, to put it all in perspective, we did canon-balls into the water
off the dock; priceless.
Thank You
I got a lot of special "thank you"s for organizing the event, and I don't mind taking the credit :) However, the whole team that came together to make this happen includes many people. Zuber bhai and Asif really helped with the location, supplies, and overall organization. Asma bhabhi, my mom and dad, Jamil uncle, Moona, Khalid Chachajaan and Abida Chachijaan all helped finalize the supplies list and get the items. My father made multiple trips to Jackson Heights; jazakallah.
I would be remiss not to mention Atif, Khalid uncle and their families for confirming within the hour of our initial call. Honestly, without those confirmations we would have hesitated to book.Yaseen and Sana changed travel plans in order to come. Masood wrestled with his schedule to make it. Noor Khalajaan has a recovering knee and she persevered through the long drive. Febin and Bilal were told last minute (my fault), yet they made it. Our grandfather passed away, and everyone helped in remembering him and making dua for him. I want to thank all of you.
