Inthe beginning of my playthrough the combat music played fine but now I am level 30 and have the best power armor and all and I feel like the game plays almost no combat music anymore. I know that there is a value called fCombatMusicPlayerTargetedThreatRatio which supposedly controls when combat music plays by comparing stats of the player and enemies. That at least is how it should work and does in Skyrim.
I usually never really cared about it but I am testing things such as combat music for my audio mod and just now noticed that this is actually a annoying problem. I went ahead and changed the value of fCombatMusicPlayerTargetedThreatRatio which should make combat music play more again but it doesnt. I dont know why. Does changing this value require a new game?
But it doesnt change anything either. Am I missing something or do I really need a fresh game for these changes to kick in? Or is there anything else that controls combat music? I basically want it to always play, even when I fight a rad roach.
AFAIK, this isn't actually a "technical support problem". I had been unaware of that GMST, but it does appear (from your description) that the absence of combat music after a certain point is intentional as it is usually regarded as a "warning". There are a number of settings in FNV that appear to be broken (carried over from previous games but not implemented), but it normally takes a fix from one of the engine hacking teams (e.g. JIP, LStewie, etc) to correct.
Well, I hope this setting isnt actually broken but some people use it in their mods and it seems to work for them. Maybe my problem is unrelated to it anyway. I honestly dont know anymore, I pretty much tried everything. All I know is that my combat music stopped playing once I reached higher level and got power armor. I mean it does still play but very very rarely like 1 out of 15 combats. I also felt like that maybe some cells dont play combat music but maybe that is just me. I do know people in Skyrim have often similar problems due to the game thinking that they are too OP so battle music almost never plays and I thought I might have the same problem. But maybe I am wrong and its something completely different here for me.
I also cant recall if I ever had such issues before. I usually didnt give the music that much attention and I only do now because I am testing my audio mod, which makes it frustrating since I cant really test that aspect of my mod. Maybe fCombatMusicPlayerTargetedThreatRatio changes need a new game start but I somehow doubt it. Aside of that I dont know what it could be. Hoped maybe someone else has a idea or knows similar issues.
EDIT: I was able to resolve it mostly. I changed several fCombatMusic GMSTs. Guess that one alone wasnt enough or not high enough. The default value was 100 and I changed it to 1000 but I guess that still wasnt enough. Now its 10000 and almost anything toggles music but I also changed some other CombatMusic GMSTs. Still finetuning and looking deeper into it. Might release it as a mod but it will probably be part of my audio overhaul that comes in the next weeks.
Oh? That is interesting: the kind of obscure detail only someone in your situation and with your perseverance is likely to turn up. When you get a better handle on it, be sure to post here or in the GECK sub-forum and I'll update the "Getting Started" and possibly the "Conflicts" wikis with the data. Thanks for updating.
Music PlayerGeneral InfoGameAce Combat 7: Skies UnknownTypeGameplay ModeThe Music Player is a gameplay mode that has been featured in various Ace Combat games. It allows players to listen to the game's soundtrack (either partially or fully) within the game's menus. In most featured games, players unlock the Music Player after completing the campaign at least once.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the first game to offer the Music Player as downloadable content. Players must purchase the Season Pass in order to use the Music Player; it is not available for standalone purchase.[1]
The Japanese version of the game did not include a normally-accessible Music Player. It required a separate purchase of the Direct Audio with AppenDisc. However, a hidden bonus menu in Disc 1 accessible through cheats also includes a Music Player that can only play most music from Disc 1.[3]
Ace Combat Infinity did not feature a full Music Player interface. Certain emblems featured snippets of music tracks from Infinity and previous Ace Combat games. Starting on May 13, 2015, as part of Update 2.05, players could listen to an emblem's music snippets at any time in the Hangar after earning the MVP title 20 times with that emblem equipped.
The combat song is playing over and over even though no threats are around. The song started during the quest "The Battle for Solitude". I tried player.kill and reloading the latest save, as suggested by some forums, but nothing worked so far.
Unfortunately... if you're stuck combat music is due to a dragon battle- it may never go away! After killing a dragon in Riverwood, all the dragon's remains will sometimes fall into the middle of town and make the main dragon impassible. My typical manner of cleaning up unwanted corpses is to open console and click on the corpse. When I see the ID code for the unwanted corpse (in this case- a huge dragon skeleton), once the console is focused on the target- I simply type : disable
It would appear, though... (much to my dismay) that this may cause the combat music to become permanent. Killing your character multiple times does not make it go away. Starting a new game on the same file, and then reloading your developed character doesn't make it go away either.
I studied history of eve music a little bit and it turned out EVE has its own jukebox music player, but for some reason it war removed. I suggest to bring it back and fix some issues like combat music bug.
On a similar note: Age of Conan had / has this exact problem since a patch years ago as well, why does this happen in your games Funcom? (though in AoC it was even worse because the music would stack each time you got into combat, creating a noisy mess)
Mrs. Grundy is currently competing in the Long Island Music Festival sponsored by Good Times magazine. I've done these things before, and it's always utterly confused me how they determine the winners in these contests.
For example: For the first round, there are three judges. Their vote counts for 40% of the total tallied votes...and then audience vote counts for 60%. This results in the ability to guarantee a victory by bringing a bigger crowd than everyone else.
But consider this: During the first round, we lost out to THE WORST BAND ON THE BILL. They were HORRIBLE...and I don't use such a term lightly. They couldn't play together, they couldn't play in tune. All their songs were the same three chords and went on for about 8 minutes each (with meandering, awful solos thrown in). The drummer needed to play along to a drum machine with headphones just to keep time.
The judges recommended us for "The Wild Card" slot, which is basically a consolation prize to move to the next round even though we didn't bring enough people...but the whole situation smacks of silliness to me.
That is one of the things I do not miss. That Battle Of The Bands Crapola . If you bring a bigger crowd most times you won. It didn't matter if you were better (musically) or not. I really got sick of that crap. Years ago I was in a band who ended up in a similar situation. We smoked everybody else that night, was told so by the judges, the bar owner and other musicians in the crowd that we totally respected and still lost. Left a bad taste in my mouth for that scene. I am SO glad I am no longer running in that crowd. Sorry about the rant and I know my post probably doesn't help much. The situation bites but I am sure your band will come thru in the end.
Yeah, I'm sure the judges were 90% decided on who would win before a note had been played, and I wouldn't always trust the audience either just like the real world ; ...Ferinstance, there was a band that was metal-oriented and so much tighter and instrumentally accomplished than the other bands. But the audience didn't like the vibe as much; some of the other bands just seemed funner, or trying to take journeys that enticed more people.
Is all publicity good publicity? Did the exposure gain you anything? Was the pay decent? Were there lessons to be learned? Will the moment be forgotten? Sucks to not be A#1, but that is true for every band and person. Usually the promoters get what they wanted though ; }
I've done a few, enough to not do any more. It always seemed like there was a fix in. Even if you survive a preliminary round, what it really gets you is an unpaid gig, where the bar does quite well, thank you. And only your own fans, if you bring any, are interested in you. Everyone is waiting for whichever one act they came to see. They tend to kind of fold their arms for everyone else.
From a music store standpoint, we host them, and it works out well for young bands that don't have a venue to play at. Due to musical style, or lack of equipment, or just a venue to play period. The younger bands are appreciative of what we offer. As for the judges part, nobody from our store is a judge or participates in it in any way. We select people who are open minded to musical styles: Record store owners, Radio DJ's, friends who we know are unbiased. This works out for the better, and the crowd is not involved in any way for voting.
The band that won was from out of state and it sure looked fixed to everyone in all the bands and the audience. It looked like their management had pulled some sort of deal so that they would get the publicity for winning.
When I was in high school back in the early 60's, we had a battle of the bands at a school dance. There were only two bands in the high school, mine and another one. We set up at opposite ends of the gym and alternated songs. The students ran back and forth from one end to the other checking us out.
