Thesims was working fine yesterday, and when trying to open it today, was saying it was "already running" when it wasn't. decided to uninstall and reinstall but now I can't reinstall, even just the base game.
Before trying to reinstall Sims 4, run a search for any related files. Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Sims 4 in the search field in the upper-right corner. Let the scan finish, which could take a while, and review the list for any Sims 4 data. The folder in Documents > Electronic Arts can stay, but if you find anything else, please post a screenshot of the search results.
If you only find the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, you can try installing the game again. If it still gets stuck, clear the App's cache again and restart your computer, then create a new folder on the root level of the drive of your choice. For example, C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games. Direct the EA App to install Sims 4 into this folder, not the default location.
@puzzlezaddict I've tried what you have suggested, and unfortunately it still isn't working. No files on my PC exist for The Sims 4 anymore except for my saves, tray files and mods that have been backed up onto my desktop. everything else has been promptly deleted or uninstalled.
I managed to update and open the sims 4 on my partner's pc (exact same specs) with no issues so I'm unsure why that's the case going to try transferring the files from his PC to mine and seeing if I can install it that way instead.
@Sm0lPl4nt Try using a new admin Windows account to install the game. Uninstall the EA App using your current account, then create the new account (make it local, as in, don't sign into Microsoft) and download and install the EA App from there. Make another new folder into which you install Sims 4.
@AllyisCosy Please describe your exact issue, including posting screenshots of any errors you see when trying to install the game. Please also confirm which troubleshooting steps you've done: I don't want to waste your time with suggestions you've already tried, but I also don't want to skip anything that might help.
@TheSwissOpossum Please test in a cleaan user folder. Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. If the folder copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.
Thank you thank you thank you, at least I solved this problem, I've been going crazy for ten days, now it recognizes me and installs the customized material... Even if I still can't download the add-ons after installing the sims 3, it stops at first expansion to install, it pauses and I can only play with the sims 3 base game, I hope to resolve this problem as soon as possible, I've been looking for the solution for ten days now and I can't find one, the support service has been almost useless .
Anyway, thanks for at least solving this problem for me, I can at least play with the basic game. You're awesome
Has anyone been able to work out this problem? The new EA app seems determined not to let me play the game. The accepted solution did not work for me, and the problem is with all my custom content, not just worlds..."There are no packages to install. Done!". I'd appreciate any suggestions!
@Kehribar2 Try installing the content into a clean user folder, just as an experiment. Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, download a fresh copy of one Store item, and try to install it. Continue to use the workaround in this thread's accepted solution.
Unfortunately it didn't help me at all... sometimes it works, but if I turn my laptop off and turn it on later, it doesn't work anymore. I heard EA is testing something, and all we can do is waiting till it works again - as far as I know it's gonna take up to 2 weeks...
I did what you said and it worked for only a few items. Most of the items I try to install it just freezes and stays stuck on a black screen. I had all my content in my game and played last weekend just fine. Then yesterday, a week later, I went to play and when I loaded my game it said some objects are missing. Then I realized it somehow uninstalled all of my sims 3 store content. I don't know why or how.
Hello! I followed everything from this now closed thread, but store content will still not install. Support said the best option was to start a new thread since they've had a lot of people saying this is still an issue. I'm hoping someone has an idea but I did pay for some of this content with real money and not points so I'm going to be seriously upset if I can't access it.
For some more info, when I try to install store content, it says that my game needs to be fully up to date (it is, as well as the EA App). I did try to convert the store content to .packages as suggested on a tumblr thread, but that made it so the game wouldn't launch at all. I'm at a loss and I've been messing around for five hours since I was forced to switch over to the app. Any ideas are appreciated, or EA actually correcting this issue instead of saying it's solved when it's not would be helpful.
If that doesn't or didn't help, the next step is to try downloading with a different browser than your usual one, for example Firefox works well with the store. Please use another clean folder for this test, just to be thorough.
@puzzlezaddict Trying a different browser worked with the clean folder! I tried the clean folder about three times last night but hadn't thought to try it using a different browser. Thank you so much! You're amazing! You've solved tons of my game issues! I hope EA can get a handle on this soon.
I'm having the issue where the ea app says I own Roaring heights and monte vista, but won't download or install; I go to the sims 3 store (regardless of browser) and it shows I don't own it, when I do own it; I've always had issues where the store tells me I don't own a pack I bought payed for and have played previously. How can I install these worlds when the ea app doesn't have a download feature for these? and restarting my pc, as well as clearing cache on the ea app don't work as I've tried it many times.
@freakyteen21 When you bought Roaring Heights and Monte Vista, you should have one email receipt for each purchase, which in turn would have had product codes for you to register on the Store site. Did you receive the emails, and if so, did you register the codes? Not doing so would explain why the worlds show as owned in the EA App but not in the Store.
@freakyteen21Store content can be downloaded while in game. Open the game and in the load game screen and further click the optiond (...) and click Open Downloads Dashboard. In live mode there is an option Player Profile and Wall. Most features (but not all) of
tnesims3.com is available in game now. If you bought the content from the store or the app may (probably) won't get an email but the item will probably say you own this. Another thing to check if you bought the item from EA is your EA account purchase history. Packs may have to be installed from the EA app. click manage next to play and click manage add-ons.
@puzzlezaddictThe
thesims3.com site hasn't worked right for months. Like I said and I'll repeat you can do almost all
thesims3.com stuff in game and I'm willing to be
thesims3.com will go away sometime so get used to using the Open Downloads dashboard and manage/manage add-ons. IT WORKS!!!
This thread was written a year ago and has been superceded by current, more relevant threads. For anyone reading this thread, please use this master thread for DLC that was purchased through the EA App not being available to download:
Some players are having trouble downloading and installing the newest kits, Pastel Pop and Everyday Clutter. Or the kits show as installed, but the content doesn't load in-game. If you are affected, please try the following:
I have the same problem. I bought two new kits for The Sims 4 Today. I purchased Pastel Pop Kit and Everyday Clutter Kit. None of the kits is visible in downable add-ons. They also do not show up in the installed add-ons and & in-game content. I can't install them. The EA app says that I can buy add-ons, even though I have already purchased them.
That sounds like there may been an issue with the transaction in the EA App for these kits- this isn't something we can look into over AHQ as we don't have access to your account details, but the live support team can review your account and investigate that a bit further.
I purchased both the new kits today, they are showing up as "You own this add-on" in my collection, but it's not letting me download either kit. I have rebooted my rig, and repaired my game. I have also removed my mods folder.
I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.
Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.
i tried to download the new kits and the EA play app says they are installed but they dont show up in game. I'm currently repairing the game. I had MCCC and UI cheats installed but removed them before downloading. i dont understand why they aren't there.
@Sylmos @sdhoey @TheSpaark and @sauvagja I've merged your posts with the master thread for this issue. Please try the suggestions in the first post, and if they don't help, please provide the requested info.
Fast forward and we now see numerous titles certified to run on the Steam Deck. Proton has been updated and improved in countless ways over the last few months. More games are auto recognized and run without issue or complex setup. There are still struggles with games that feature anti-cheat solutions like Destiny 2. As in, most competative multiplayer games require that you abandon SteamOS and install Windows.
