I've modded New Vegas with about 70 mods, I've had no real issues while playing, (other than the occasional crash which none of us can escape) I'm level 43, this is just to give an idea how long I've been playing without issues. Now all of a sudden the game has become basically unplayable as It'll crash within a couple minutes with an "Out of memory" error. I'd really appreciate any advice people would give me that doesn't involve a clean install. Thanks.

FNV is a popular action role-playing video game available on Windows and other gaming platforms. However, due to an internal bug, you may encounter the Fallout New Vegas out of memory error during gameplay.

For several days I have been trying to deal with the out of memory error when generating LOD using DynDOLODx64.

I was using S.T.E.P guide to mod my Skyrim and I was able to generate LOD files only once. I noticed that all the mods take up too much space on my system disk and decided to change the paths to another disk. I coppied files, played skyrim for a while and then started modifying skyrimprefs.ini. and I found this tutorial on the internet: 'tutorial' and in this tutorial this is mentioned: "If you set uLargeRefLODGridSize = 11 do this: in DynDOLOD_SSE.ini in line IgnoreLargeReferences = change from a 0 to a 1 then just save the file."

I thought that i have to regenerate LOD files and i did this but faced out of memory error. I reverted this setting and tried to generate LODs again but from now on I get this error every time. (i disabled DynDOLOD Output on my modlist before regenerating and deleted files from that mod folder).

I know for a fact i'm not having any mod conflicts and just to let you know, i was using most of these mods for the normal FNV version before reinstalling for ttw after upgrading to windows 10. You also might see that i have a few files that are TTW versions like streetlights and project beauty, but i'm using the ttw fallout 3 only versions for those. I also downloaded all the needed patches for every mod that needs it, sorted the load order, and added a merge patch. I'm also using NMC's texture pack for F3 and FNV, i used the TTW tool provided by Roy to clean them up, i also have ojo buenos environmental textures overwriting NMC's, MG's clutter, bornagain ttw, wasteland hd clothing. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my PC setup if that even matters: Windows 10 Pro 64bit, 16GB Kingston HyperX 1866mhz memory, Msi Gaming GTX 970, Amd Fx-8350 4.5 ghz(Might not be the best for a game like fallout, but i'm getting 60 fps most of the time with Overgrowth enb.) Samsung 850 pro for the OS and drivers, 1tb wd black for games and 1tb harddrive for random sh*t. I probably forgot to list a few things, but as you can see my hardware is not the problem here. Once again, any help would be appreciated.

The weird thing is how i was able to run all these textures before plus most of the mods, but the new vegas versions. And i wouldn't exactly call 2.5gb a lot of memory. I also have all the latest drivers installed on my pc. Not sure what the problem could be.

Edit 2: Uhhh... After about 20 minutes of playing, DxWnd started opening an out of memory error dialogue over and over, and I had to kill it with task manager. Task manager reported that DxWnd was using 1.7 GB of memory.

It took longer to crash this time too, which is surprising because I was intentionally trying to induce an out-of-memory error (by travelling in and out of different areas and interiors constantly). I did notice a few glitches near to the end of my session which could indicate low memory, such as models becoming invisible, and LODs taking a long time to switch. As with the crash though, this could just be the game's fault, unrelated to DxWnd.

16. If the LO has changed, re-run FNVLODGen after LOOT. (Rebuilds LOD quadrants (quads), which are "load order" dependent.)
17. Use FNVEdit (loading the entire LO) to check for Masters that are missing or loading after Dependencies. See the wiki tutorial Missing Masters. There is full documentation of FNVEdit (for both FO3 and FNV) in the online docs Tome of xEdit and the downloadable PDF FNVEdit Training Manual.
18. Are you using a Wrye Flash Bashed Patch or a manually created "merge patch" file? (Resolves record level conflicts.) See S.T.E.P. Merging Plugins Guide which covers both approaches, or the video Making a Merge Patch by Roy Batty for the "merge up" approach. (Use of "Mod Organizer" is not required.) Use the Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide to quickly get functional with "Wrye Flash", which I think is the easier approach for a novice modder.
19. If you are using "Wrye Flash" to create a "Bashed Patch", have you gotten all "green" checkboxes for all your mods? See the first post in the pinned thread Fallout New Vegas Beginners guide to modding by gromulos.
20. Was there an update to a mod that has been included in a "merged plugins" or "merge patch" file? Rebuild the "merge" file.
21. Did any system or driver updates occur? (Third party processes might be the cause if nothing else changed.)
22. Does your hardware meet the game's minimum requirements?
23. Have you tried running the game in "windowed mode"? This has been known to unexpectedly fix CTDs and "out of memory" errors on some older hardware. If you prefer the "borderless" version of "windowed mode", install New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE) and use the One Tweak for FNV mod.

The CPU is responsible for directing the graphics data from memory and disk to the video adapter (just as for any "peripheral" device). Until it does so, the GPU has nothing to work on. So it is the first potential bottleneck. A MoBo integrated video adapter MAY be able to work in conjunction with an "addon" video card, or it may obstruct one. This is one of those specific design features nobody talks about and you can only work it out by trial and error. A video adapter and it's GPU(s) are essentially a "black box" to the CPU. However, it does recognize which "port" (connector) the display is plugged into. As far as the CPU is concerned, the video adapter and the "display" are basically the same: a one way street it sends graphics commands down with (at best) a stop light to prevent overflows. The video adapter handles the signaling requirements of the display.

The Out of Memory error pops right in the middle of the gameplay and is followed by a total game crash. Going by the wording of the error, a lack of memory seems to be the culprit. However, the error is encountered equally in systems with adequate memory.

Many scenarios may cause Visual FoxPro to report a C0000005 error. The most efficient method of determining the root cause is to get a memory dump on the Visual FoxPro process when the error occurs and then examine the stack for the faulting module. For example, if a printer driver module is on the top of the stack, one should try updating the printer driver or trying a different driver. If a third party OCX appears as the faulting module, then you should check with the developer of that control for an update on compatibility with your version of Visual FoxPro.

I'm using HID smart card reader 3121 to read/write smart card using APDU commands. I successfully performed the basic operations (pin verification/ read / write) on some smart cards. However, some of my cards doesn't write data successfully and return the response as following: 0x6581 Memory failure (unsuccessful writing). I check the error detail on internet and it said: 0x6581: State of non-volatile memory changed.. if anybody knows the solution to this, please let me know. Thanks

Most probable solution: The cards you tried were already used for some time and might be subjected to (possibly excessive) rewrite of the same few memory cells. The error counter of the PIN is a likely candidate, since it needs to be updated at least twice on every VERIFY command. Note, that a typical limit guaranteed by the hardware manufacturer is in the magnitude of 100k write accesses, for exact numbers ask your hardware vendor.

"State of volatile memory changed" simply means that the state of the card is no longer the same as at the start of the last command (so something might already have been updated successfully before the error occurred). SInce the memeory is starting to wear out, there is not much benefit in atttempts to clean up.

As such the conflict detection process requires a lot of memory, and systems with less than 2 Gigabytes of RAM may suffer. If you receive an, "Out of Memory" error, then your computer does not have enough memory to process the number of mods you have chosen. Upgrade your computer or reduce the number of mods you run.

Everything is up to date on my system. I've had the program for more than a year, and this specific problem actually started after the last program update for Music Maker. It does not really help that I had multiple tabs open in Movie Edit at the time AND was also moving a ton of security cam videos to my NAS. This may have overtaxed the memory. But I've still never received a dll error before now.

Update -
I updated the graphics card as well as the MAGIX program. Today I received multiple errors saying it could not write the file when attempting to autosave the backup copy. Then it crashed. I made sure it was the only thing running at the time (so no overtaxed memory issue). Here is the latest log.
