The Fracking Industry Deserves Our Gratitude

Victor Davis Hanson

Less than ten years ago, America’s energy future looked bleak. World oil prices in 2008 had spiked to more than $100 per barrel of crude. “Peak oil” — the theory that the world had already extracted more crude oil than was still left in the ground — was America’s supposed bleak fate. Ten years ago, rising gas prices,...

Kim Jong Un vs. U.S. Navy SEALs

Dear Reader,

Recent SEAL Team activity in response to Kim Jong Un’s test launch of long-range missiles has the U.S. military on alert.

There had been reports that SEAL Team Six, the formerly secretive now infamous team that took down Osama Bin laden, was performing training exercises in South Korea.

The Pentagon has refuted those reports, as they should.

But the fact remains... U.S. Navy SEALs are in the region.

And the North Koreans should tread carefully with the special operations group so close to home.

The SEALs are the world’s most elite special operations unit, and as such, have major advantages over their adversaries.

Superior training, state of the art weapons and advanced tactics all play a role.

But one critical advantage trumps them all. (You can watch a former Navy SEAL Sniper demonstrate it right here.

This former sniper and SEAL Team One Commander wants to give you the same advantage used by SEAL teams to keep you and your family safe in a crisis.

Stay safe,

Doug Hill
Director, Laissez Faire Club

Dear Reader,

Now it looks like even OPEC's throwing in the towel on higher oil prices.

The once powerful cartel remains in a state of chaos as member countries - Venezuela, Libya, Iran, and Nigeria - are pumping at a furious pace to bring cash into their economies as fast as possible.

Even Saudi Arabia refuses to slow down, continuing to pump more than 10 million barrels per day, a level of production not seen since the oil wars of the 1970s.

And now, in an unprecedented maneuver to raise extra cash, the Saudis are planning to put Saudi Aramco up for sale in an IPO where the national oil company is expected to be valued at more than $2 trillion.

Why is every oil-producing nation suddenly desperate to sell off their richest asset as fast as possible?

A United States intelligence insider believes the real reason has been hidden until now.

You see, a shocking discovery has unlocked a massive supply of free fuel. Enough fuel to power the entire globe for 36,000 years.

This fuel is so cheap, so abundant, and so easy to access, that Fortune 500 companies - including Google, Apple, and Facebook - are spending billions to get on board...

At the same time, every major energy player on the planet is turning their back on oil.

In fact, the U.S. Department of Defense invested $7 billion in a single day. And billionaires - Warren Buffett, George Soros, and Bill Gates - are dumping oil stocks in favor of this fuel.

Make no mistake: OPEC, the Saudi Royals and even American Big Oil recognize the writing's on the wall.

This is happening now. See the full story right here

Trump’s Energetic Presidential Welcome in Poland

Jim Geraghty

Yes, there are times when President Trump seems too easygoing, naïve, or oblivious about the nature of Vladimir Putin and the Russian government. But then again, you don’t choose to go to Poland and give a speech like this if you’re a stooge of Moscow:

President Donald Trump on Thursday visibly enjoyed the praise showered on him by large crowds of flag-waving Poles in sun-splashed Krasinski Square. And the President, outside the United States for his second foreign trip, reciprocated by giving Polish leaders what they wanted: Public validation of their leadership and concerns over Russia.

Trump, in his most forceful terms to date, reaffirmed the United States support for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

“To those who would criticize our tough stance, I would point out not merely with words but with its actions that we stand firmly behind Article 5, the mutual defense commitment,” Trump said. “Words are easy but actions are what matter and for its own...

What Washington's Talking About

The Future of the Democratic Party

“The path back to power for the Democratic Party today, as it was in the 1990s, is unquestionably to move to the center and reject the siren calls of the left, whose policies and ideas have weakened the party.” [Mark Penn and Andrew Stein, New York Times]

“Democrats should respond to [Trump’s rhetoric] — not by writing off white working-class voters, or by mimicking Trump’s divisive rhetoric and hollow promises — but with a combination of honest talk and a new social and economic contract for the working class.  … Candor, not condescension, is the Democrats’ path to unmasking the false promise of Trumpism and reclaiming working-class voters in 2018 and beyond.” [Ron Klain, Washington Post]

President Trump is in Europe, but the North Korean situation is taking center stage. I’m Davan Maharaj, editor-in-chief of the Los Angeles Times. Here are some story lines I don’t want you to miss today.

TOP STORIES

North Korea’s Achilles Heel
North Korea is known as the Hermit Kingdom and a “pariah regime,” but there are more than a few countries willing to do business with it. Chinese banks handle trade deals; African nations buy military equipment; Polish shipyards and Russian forestry sites employ guest workers who send most of their salaries directly to the government in Pyongyang. So as the Trump administration looks at a short list of unpalatable options in dealing with North Korea’s aggressive missile and nuclear arms programs, targeting these economic ties is one card that has yet to played. Look no further than the Obama administration sanctions on Iran, experts say, for how the pressure could be stepped up.

More Politics
— At a news conference in Poland on Thursday, Trump said he was considering some “pretty severe things” in response to North Korea’s missile launch. The president also said he believes Russia and other countries meddled in the 2016 election.
— In Poland, a right-wing, populist, anti-immigrant government sees an ally in Trump.
— A three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that minors who enter the U.S. without permission must be given a court hearing to determine whether they can be released.
— Here’s why more and more states are pushing back against Trump’s voter fraud commission.

If Medicaid Is Cut, These Kids Fall Through the Cracks
Much of the debate over Republican efforts to roll back Obamacare has focused on the effect that cuts in Medicaid would have on millions of working-age adults. But in hundreds of mostly rural counties across the U.S., more than half of children living there rely on Medicaid and the related Children’s Health Insurance Program for health coverage, according to an L.A. Times analysis. Most of those areas, of course, voted for Trump. This graphic breaks it down, county by county.

Trump and CNN and Reddit and Neo-Nazis … Oh My!
And the most retweeted tweet of Donald Trump’s timeline is … the doctored WWE video clip of him pummeling the CNN logo. As almost all of the president’s tweets do, it produced a backlash, and a backlash to the backlash. Then came the revelations about the person on Reddit who claimed responsibility for the GIF. And then the CNN story about him that produced cries of #CNNBlackmail. If your head doesn’t hurt enough by now, keep reading for what may be the epitome of this year’s politics on social media.

Volvo Goes Electric
Tesla has been generating buzz for its bid to mass-produce mid-market electric vehicles, but traditional automakers are in the game too. Now, Volvo has announced that all of its new models will be equipped with an electric motor — whether as a pure electric, or a gas hybrid — starting in 2019. Still, reports of the demise of the internal combustion engine have been greatly exaggerated

The Travel Ban and the Pug
It was a mission that these days might arouse suspicion: Katy Kargosha left her home in New Orleans, flew to Tehran, then almost immediately returned to the United States with a passenger in tow. “I was sure they were going to ask, ‘Why did you go to Iran for four hours?’” said Kargosha, a dual citizen of the U.S. and Iran. It was all to pick up an abused pug named Chance and deliver him to an L.A. rescuer named the Pug Queen.

MUST-WATCH VIDEO

— Caltrans is on the lookout for bridge erosion from swiftly moving water.

— Stars, stripes and a whole lot of fun: the 113th Huntington Beach Fourth of July parade.

— At the University of La Verne, students are surprised to find a private school with a public mission.

CALIFORNIA

— After the most expensive school board election in U.S. history, charter school backers will formally assemble their first-ever majority on the Los Angeles Board of Education today. Here’s what to expect.

— Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens testified that her deputies may have flouted rules regarding jailhouse informants, but that such conduct was committed only “by a few.”

— Officials say a proposed streetcar through downtown Los Angeleswon’t begin service until 2021. It faces new funding questions.

— Make it stop: A heat wave in Southern California is expected to break records Friday.

HOLLYWOOD AND THE ARTS

— Film critic Kenneth Turan says “Spider-Man: Homecoming” has strong stunt work and a powerful super-villain played by Michael Keaton, but it trips up on the teen angst

— Reality star Rob Kardashian may have run afoul of California’s revenge porn law after he posted sexually explicit images he said were of Blac Chyna, the mother of his child.

— Daniel Dae Kim gives his side of the story behind his abrupt departure from the “Hawaii Five-0” reboot

— Meet Zeerak, a new Muppet on Afghanistan’s “Sesame Street” who promotes gender equality.

CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD

Leonard Franklin Slye was born in a red-brick Cincinnati tenement in 1911. Nineteen years later, his family headed west to L.A. in hopes of a better life. Eventually, he got his big break, and today we remember him as Roy Rogers, who died on this date in 1998. Here’s how he became the King of the Cowboys.

NATION-WORLD

— Authorities said at least 26 people were killed in northern Mexico during a gun battle between warring crime gangs, part of an escalation of deadly violence across the country.

— Armed supporters of Venezuela’s president invaded the National Assembly complex in Caracas and attacked opposition deputies with metal tubes and stones

— When this broadcaster makes a rare appearance, North Koreans know it’s serious

— A recent poll by the International Olympic Committee suggests that Los Angeles residents support hosting the 2024 Summer Games at a lower percentage than has been touted by the local bid committee.

OPINION

— North Korea’s missile test was ominous, but a military response could be disastrous

— Americans need to know all our history: the good, the bad and the complex. See the David Horsey cartoon.

— NPR tweeted out the Declaration of Independence on July 4, and some Trump supporters took it the wrong way. (Washington Post)

— Is a newly discovered photo really of Amelia Earhart? Not everyone is convinced. (The Guardian)

ONLY IN L.A.

Los Angeles artist Guadalupe Rosales became an Instagram sensation by posting pictures from her youth in Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles, including 1990s glamour shots, prom photos and images of the Eastside club scene. Now she’s bringing the party to LACMA, as the first artist to take over the museum’s Instagram feed.

Obviously you have given this subject a lot of thought and apparently also consulted with financial professionals to put this together. Congratulations on this work and I hope that it will do what I and other advisors have been advocating for many years. Preparing now is much easier than trying to do so in the midst of the collapse.

The truth about “Canadian Social Security”
Dear Reader,

We recently released the results of a six-month investigation into a growing trend here in America...

In short, a savvy group of Americans have figured out a way to legally piggyback “Canadian Social Security.”

And these folks are now earning monthly investment income checks from $400 to $4,700 as a result.

For example, Sara Yaeger -- a secretary from Texas -- is now earning $2,900 per month in income... And Carol Alderman, a widow with two children, averages more than $1,200 in income. (You can click here to see more incredible stories.)

So what is “Canadian Social Security”?

It’s an “old age” benefit program just like we have here in the states... only (from what we’ve discovered), it’s far superior.

For example... While the U.S. social security program is set to be bankrupt by 2032...

Funding for the Canadian version is set to QUADRUPLE by the year 2040. (Just look at the chart on the right.)

But here’s the kicker...

What we discovered is that you don’t need to live, work or even visit Canada to begin earning income by piggybacking the program.

And you can earn thousands in additional retirement income without affecting your U.S. Social Security benefits!

You can read our full investigation... and discover how to begin earning income by clicking here.

Sincerely,

Joe Schriefer

Maybe Those Anonymous Internet Trolls Aren’t as Anonymous as They Thought

Jim Geraghty

Before we dive into what’s left of a short work week, a quick thought: Yesterday, a couple hundred million Americans gathered at parades, ballparks, backyard barbecues, harbors, marathons, pools, and other locations to celebrate Independence Day.

Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and every other anti-American extremist would have loved to disrupt those events with an attack and mar the day. And they couldn’t. The Department of Homeland Security gets a lot of grief, sometimes deservedly so, in part because their public face is the men and women in blue who are touching your junk in search of a non-metaphorical concealed weapon. But yesterday — and almost every holiday — DHS, FBI, our armed forces, our intelligence agencies, and police officers across the country did an exceptional job at ensuring everyone had a safe and enjoyable day. Thanks, everybody.

What Washington's Talking About

The North Korea Dilemma

“For Mr. Trump and other political leaders, negotiating with North Korea is anathema. It has one of the world’s worst human rights records. But sanctions have not ended the nuclear threat, and military action against the North would put millions of South Koreans, and 38,000 American troops, at risk. Negotiations, however, did lead to a deal in 1994 that froze the North’s program for nearly a decade.” [Editorial, New York Times]

“The best option is a comprehensive strategy to change the Kim regime, as former Undersecretary of State Robert Joseph has argued. Washington must strengthen deterrence and build out missile defenses, revive the Bush Administration’s antiproliferation dragnet, convince countries in the region to cut their ties with North Korea, consider shooting down future Korean test missiles, and spread news about the regime’s crimes to people in the North. The U.S. will also have to recognize that Beijing is part of the problem. North Korea’s trade with China grew by 37.4% in the first quarter, contributing to an economic miniboom.” [Editorial, Wall Street Journal]

President Trump is facing a growing threat from North Korea while he prepares to meet with Vladimir Putin later this week. I’m Davan Maharaj, editor-in-chief of the Los Angeles Times. Here are some story lines I don’t want you to miss today.

TOP STORIES

The Perils of Trump’s Meeting With Putin
The G20 summit starts Thursday in Germany, where world leaders are certain to discuss North Korea, Syria, Islamic State and global terrorism. But the most highly anticipated talks of President Trump’s tenure will be when he meets face to face with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, while allegations of collusion remain at the center of a criminal investigation in Washington. Putin is known to prepare meticulously for such meetings. U.S. officials say they’ve prepared a thick binder for Trump, along with a list of tweet-length blurbs that summarize the main points. But senior aides have been mum on what the two leaders will discuss.

North Korea Puts Trump to the Test
It’s the biggest test yet of President Trump’s administration: North Korea says it has at long last test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, which Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called “a new escalation of the threat to the United States, our allies and partners, the region and the world.” As a show of force, the U.S. and South Korea conducted a combined missile exercise within 10 miles of the demilitarized zone. The two countries, along with Japan, requested an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting today. But the basic problem, one that has flummoxed the last three American presidents, remains — and the options for dealing with it all carry great risk.

In Jersey City, Jared Kushner Learns a Lesson About Politics
Jared Kushner may have stepped aside from his real estate business to work in the White House, but in Jersey City he’s still got trouble with a capital T, and that stands for Trump. A Democratic stronghold, the city is full of immigrants, many of whom weren’t happy when Trump claimed “thousands and thousands” there cheered the Sept. 11 attacks. Now, Jersey City has turned sharply against Kushner’s companies, which have been a major player in redeveloping the area but now have seen political support for high-profile projects vanish.

Video: The ‘Killer Kern’ Is a Different Monster This Year
The Kern River in Central and Northern California has long been known as the “Killer Kern.” Years of drought depleted its waters and softened its reputation. But after this year’s wet winter, the river has come roaring back. Kern County relies on about 50 trained volunteers to help save swimmers caught in powerful currents and recover the bodies of those who have drowned. Eight people, including one who had a heart attack, have died on the river since March.

Cans and Bottles in Search of Redemption
If you’ve tried to recycle your cans and bottles in Southern California lately, you’ve probably wondered: Why is it so difficult? It’s not just your imagination. Many recycling centers have closed in the last two years, as a complex mix of economic factors has hit the recycling business on all sides. In a state that prides itself on being green, environmentalists say more containers are ending up as litter or in landfills.

N. Korea Tests another Missile, Trump Pushes China to Intervene

Hawking: Trump's Anti-Global Warming Policies to DESTROY the Earth

This Unusual Calendar Marks the Potential Arrival Dates
for 124 “Automatic” Checks Made Out to You…

Hi, Harry Dent here.

I’ve been an economist for over 30 years now and I’ve seen a lot of income strategies come and go with varying degrees of success.

So when my colleague and trusted retirement and income expert, Charles Sizemore, showed me this calendar that he claimed could map out the dates of “automatic” income checks anyone can receive every single month – I was naturally skeptical.

But then I did some research and saw that this calendar is based on dates that these checks have been delivered on for years now!

And there’s absolutely NO reason to believe that it won’t be the same for the rest of 2017.

In fact, it shows that you could expect to receive 124 “automatic” checks between now and December 31st.

For example, if you turn to March you’ll see you could expect to receive 8 checks all on March 11th

In April, you could see six checks arriving on April 13th

All told, 24 checks could arrive between March 10th and April 15th!

In his NEW presentation just released earlier today, my colleague and trusted retirement and income expert, Charles Sizemore, shows you exactly how to use this calendar to create a large, automatic income for yourself year after year.

But time flies--and so do these checks. If you want the opportunity to collect all of them that you see scheduled, you’ll have to act now.

Every second of it could mean money in your pocket.

Sincerely,

Harry Dent

Decades ago, a small town grappled with issues the nation is again debating today. On this Independence Day, we look back. I’m Davan Maharaj, editor-in-chief of the Los Angeles Times. Here are some story lines I don’t want you to miss.

TOP STORIES

A Hero From the Home of the Brave
Hiroshi “Hershey” Miyamura was born in Gallup, N.M., to Japanese immigrant parents in 1925. He was a Boy Scout, delivered newspapers and played Hopalong Cassidy and Flash Gordon. Then, during World War II, much of the country would come to see anyone like him — of Japanese ancestry — as a threat. Not so in Gallup, where the town’s sheriff said, “They are citizens here, and we are not going to round them up.” Miyamura would go on to become an American hero during the Korean War. Here is the story of his bravery — and a lesson in tolerance that’s just as relevant today.

Pence’s High-Wire Act: Praising Trump and Lawyering Up
Like all vice presidents of the United States, Mike Pence is a proverbial heartbeat away from the presidency. Unlike any other veep, he operates in Donald Trump’s unique shadow. As drama swirls daily around the president’s efforts to turn Washington on its ear, Pence seems to have two basic mantras: Everything is normal, and “the greatest privilege of my life” is to work for Trump. At the same time, he’s moved to protect himself, by hiring a personal attorney and setting up an independent political committee.

More Politics
— North Korea claims to have test-launched its first intercontinental ballistic missile, which a weapons analyst says could be powerful enough to reach Alaska. U.S. and South Korean officials have claimed the launch was of an intermediate-range missile.
— The White House says the Trump-CNN wrestling video “did not come from Reddit,” but a Reddit user with a history of posting racist, homophobic, anti-Islamic and anti-Semitic comments is claiming credit.
— A federal appeals court has ordered the EPA to move ahead with an Obama-era rule to monitor and reduce methane leaks.

California’s Supreme Court: ‘Three Strikes’ Doesn’t Mean ‘Walk’
How do you reduce the big prison population in California? The state Supreme Court has ruled that forcing judges to lighten the sentences of some “three-strike” offenders isn’t the way to do it. Voters passed two ballot measures in the last five years aimed at reducing the number of inmates through sentencing, but the high court says judges have broad authority when it comes to three-strikers.

Another Workplace Scandal in Murdoch’s Empire
First, a sexual harassment scandal hit Fox News in New York, with Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly being shown the door. Now, new allegations of harassment have rocked Fox Sports in Los Angeles. Jamie Horowitz, the head of sports programming who tried to position Fox Sports 1 as a more provocative alternative to ESPN, has been abruptly fired. The move came about a week after Fox began investigating the claims.

Can Tesla Put the Pedal to the Metal?
Tesla is getting ready to face the ultimate road test in its quest to mass-produce electric cars. Though it has run into snags with its luxury Model X and Model S, chief executive Elon Musk tweeted that the company will deliver 30 Model 3s (the cars with a $35,000 base price) by the end of July, and ramp up production to 20,000 Model 3s a month by December. Can it get past the quality snafus, lack of a traditional dealer system and the growing competition? In six months, we may have a clearer idea.

CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD

It’s been 46 years since Doors frontman Jim Morrison died in Paris at age 27. Though he and the band are L.A. rock legends, they didn’t always light The Times’ fire. “Perhaps Morrison should give up performing, which seems to be an effort for him, and concentrate on reciting and writing poetry,” reads one 1968 review. And there were plenty more instances of The Times beating down the Doors.

NATION-WORLD

— The Persian Gulf crisis over Qatar is testing and dividing the Trump administration.

ONLY IN CALIFORNIA

Dude, where’s my car? A Simi Valley resident said she decided to take her husband’s white Ford Fusion for a much-needed car wash before brunch in Malibu. While she was waiting for the finishing touches, another woman posed as the owner and took off. Luckily for her, there was no clean getaway.

The iPhone 8 will be great, but iOS 11 is going to blow your mind. 😳

iOS 11 introduces a customizable control panel, screen recording, playable GIFs in Photos, and iCloud versions of Venmo and Dropbox. But the realgame-changer is ARKit.

Developers have been playing with it for a few weeks since its debut at WWDC and we’re starting to see practical use cases (like an AR measuring tape, upvoted by more than 1,400 people) to Elon Musk-level “sci-fi” (like a SpaceX rocket landing in someone's backyard).

You can see all these videos on Made With ARKit, and we recommend you follow the @MadeWithARKit Twitter account. 🔥🔥

Here’s what you need to know: ARKit lets developers make apps that blend virtual objects with your environment. As the first demo apps show, the technology is powerful and will be an accelerant toward our AR and mixed reality future.

iOS 11 drops to the public in September. We asked Robert Scoble for his thoughts. He said: “195 million users in September is why ARKit matters.”In a few months, Apple will have the biggest AR platform on Day 1.

Is the Fed About to Wage War on the Rich?

For years, stocks have been driven relentlessly higher thanks to a single statement that summarized the aggressive central bank largesse since the eurozone crisis flared up in 2012: Policymakers would do "whatever it takes" to get inflation and employment higher. Each scare that seemed ready to rattle markets was rapidly...

In Defense of Western Civ

Jonah Goldberg

Dear Reader (and all men of the West),

So just to get it out of the way: Who has two thumbs and loves Western Civilization? This guy (I am pointing my thumbs me-ward, which makes typing hard).

Just to be clear, I don’t mean “so-called Western Civilization” but you know, Western Civilization.

I mean the thing both liberals and conservatives alike have celebrated for hundreds of years since words like “liberal” and “conservative” had any relevance to politics.

Of course, this is not to say everyone agreed on what Western Civilization is, was, or should be.

But when I read this from my old friend Peter Beinart, I have to scratch my head.

In his speech in Poland on Thursday, Donald Trump referred 10 times to “the West” and five times to “our civilization.” His white nationalist supporters ...

Dear Reader,

This is the most incredible map you will ever see...

(Click Play for the Full Story)
It reveals a huge untapped energy reserve that spans the entire United States.

Experts at the U.S. Department of Energy believe this fuel could provide America with a "30,000-year energy supply."

Goldman Sachs says this is a "power that's virtually inexhaustible."

And the Los Angeles Times says this massive ocean of energy "may be the most prolific renewable fuel source that most people have never heard of."

And there's a relatively unknown Midwestern company with the technology that's key to harnessing this INFINITE energy that's buried beneath ALL 50 states.

As our in-house tech expert told me, "This could be bigger than ExxonMobil, Chevron and Shell Oil combined … and make investors John D. Rockefeller-type fortunes. Early investors will have the chance to mint millions."

Dear Patriot,

In a crisis, your #1 need is food.

But not just any food...

Experts say everyone needs to have non-perishable, good for 25 years survival food on hand in case of an emergency.

Well right now – in what is truly an unprecedented move – 72-hour Food4Patriots survival food kits are being given away to loyal subscribers as long as they beat the program deadline and while supplies last.

"Survival food is more important today than ever before," explains Frank Bates, a spokesman for the company. "Natural disasters, terrorist attacks and other threats can make obtaining sufficient food impossible in an emergency."

"None of us wants to ever rely on this or any government to feed us in a crisis," Bates says.

Food4Patriots survival foods are made of the finest ingredients, grown and packaged right here in the USA. They taste great and provide the nutrition you need.

Recent advancements in the processing and packaging have led to this food being guaranteed fresh for an amazing 25 years.Packages are made of military-grade Mylar, the same material used to protect NASA astronauts.

Every 72-hour kit that's being given away contains 16 total servings of such delicious meals as Blue Ribbon Creamy Chicken Rice, the always-loved Granny's Home-style Potato Soup, and stick-to-your-ribs breakfast favorite Maple Grove Oatmeal.

This kit sells to the general public for $27.00 plus postage and has been rated 4.5 out of 5 stars by customers.

But readers who act quickly can get them just for the shipping and handling fee.

"We're trying to ensure that no one who wants this free food misses out, but they have to hurry because we have a limited supply of the 72-hour kits we can give away," Bates warned. "Once word got out that folks could actually get free survival food, we had to add extra customer service staff to keep up with incredible demand."

There is still time to take advantage of this offer, but be aware that supplies are limited and the program may end at any time.

The Most Important Thing You Need for Grilling This Summer (It’s Not Beer)

When I was a kid -- “before Nixon lied to us all on TV [and] before microwave ovens,” as Merle Haggard sang – my New England mother was always cooking in a black cast-iron pan. For breakfast, she’d have bacon sizzling in a black pan, then pour off most of the grease into a metal coffee can and fry up some eggs. Best of all...

A New Republican Agenda Is Taking Shape—and It Means Tax Increases

Has the Republican strategy of tax cuts as a supply-side stimulator expired? I am always preparing for "the day of no food."

I do that in many of the standard ways like collecting canned foods, water-straws, nutrition bars, stockpiling goods, etc.

THE PROBLEM: It's expensive, bulky, and it's too heavy to carry in an off-the-grid situation.

It also needs to be sorted through every 6 months for expired food.

THE SOLUTION: Recently I found a unique way to prepare for a "no food scenario," that weighs less than 1 pound, does not expire, and can sustain my family and I for weeks at a time.

Sustain may be the wrong word - as this is a proven superfood that improves your health and vitality as well, even as your only source of food.

If you are interested here is the "unique survival food" I added to my collection - it’s also free today.

Be prepared,

Lou Prep

Breaking News...

Dear Fellow American,

Last year’s election was one of the most polarizing in our lifetime.

Donald Trump won, but what if there had been another choice?

Recently a large-scale polling group asked Americans a very interesting

question.

Would you allow an Obama 3 rd term?

Check out the results… I think you’ll be surprised.

Regards,

Alan Hollman

P.S. How about you? Would you love another 4 years of Obama?
Or are you happy that he’s gone?

Shocking: "Doomsday Chart" warns of global disaster ahead...

Liberal Pundits Debate Whether to Go Left or Hard-Left

FACT CHECK: Did Donald Trump Jr. Commit Treason?

Fellow Investor,

In the predawn hours of September 17, 1938, at the Kommunarka firing range near Moscow, a slight, bookish-looking man was marched out of his cell.

His name was Nicolai — an economist. And as he faced the firing squad, he was informed that his death had been personally ordered by the Soviet Union's supreme leader, Josef Stalin.

Nicolai's crime: The discovery of an historical chart pattern that had accurately predicted the rise and fall of empires and nations for centuries.

The problem was, his chart pattern also predicted the death of the Soviet Union. And in 1930s Russia, that was enough to get you killed.
Today, this obscure economist's name lives on as the father of the most effective and accurate forecasting tool known to science.
It flawlessly predicted America's post-war boom in the 1950s ... the stagflation of the 1970s ... the Dot-Com crash of 2000 ... and even the housing bust of 2008.

Now, this remarkable chart has issued its gravest warning ever: A global economic collapse of Biblical proportions has begun.

It paints a vivid picture of the terrifying new world now on the horizon: A world without wealth; a world in which the savings of billions of human beings have been instantly wiped away without warning.

It proves that this crisis is far larger than any man or government — and that President Trump will not be able to stop it.

And it reveals how you can use this privileged information to multiply your money many times over — with the kinds of investments that made one investor $2 billion richer during the housing bust.

CLICK THIS LINK to watch "Stock Market Tsunami" — the FREE presentation from Weiss Research!

In Stock Market Tsunami, you'll discover why this chart strikes terror into the hearts of so many experts.

Plus, you'll see ...
  • Why this chart could also spell disaster for your investments...
  • When and where the terrifying new crisis it predicts will strike first...
  • The investment markets that will crash...
  • The alternative investments that are destined to make you rich...
  • And much more.

What Washington's Talking About

Broad Opposition to Trump Executive Order

“President Trump seems determined to conduct a shock and awe campaign to fulfill his campaign promises as quickly as possible, while dealing with the consequences later. This may work for a pipeline approval, but the bonfire over his executive order on refugees shows that government by deliberate disruption can blow up in damaging ways.” [Editorial, Wall Street Journal]

“There may be no one better positioned to force a suspension of this policy than Mr. Trump’s secretary of defense, Jim Mattis. Mr. Mattis was clear-eyed about the dangers of a proposed Muslim ban during the election, saying that American allies were reasonably wondering if ‘we have lost faith in reason.’ He added: ‘This kind of thing is causing us great damage right now, and it’s sending shock waves through this international system.’ His silence now is alarming to all who admire his commitment to American security. Mr. Mattis and other senior government officials who know better cannot lend their names to this travesty.” [Editorial, New York Times]

More Republicans are beginning to speak out against the executive order. “We all share a desire to protect the American people, but this executive order has been poorly implemented, especially with respect to green card holders,” [Sen. Bob] Corker said in a statement. “The administration should immediately make appropriate revisions, and it is my hope that following a thorough review and implementation of security enhancements that many of these programs will be improved and reinstated.” [Burgess Everett and John Bresnahan, Politico]

“The chief executives of Airbnb, Facebook, Google, Netflix, Tesla and Uber (among others) have been unanimous in their condemnation of the action that has sent tens of thousands to protest at US airports. … The first business plan and commercial operation of the world’s leading search engine were engineered by young Middle Eastern refugees. The finance function of the best animated moviemaker was led by a man who had a similar background, as had the person who oversaw hundreds of engineers working at the world’s first internet directory.” [Michael Moritz, Financial Times]

Koch Network Ready to Battle Trump

“[Koch] Network officials made it clear throughout the weekend that their allegiance is not to the GOP. They have already criticized House leaders, including House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.), for backing the idea of a border adjustment tax and are contemplating intensifying the pressure through digital ads and grass-roots lobbying. ‘We’re not limiting ourselves on our ability to go out and fight on this,’ said James Davis, a spokesman for the network. The network could present a political dilemma for many GOP lawmakers ahead of the 2018 midterm elections as they choose between two influential forces within the party, a populist wing buoyed by Trump’s ‘America First’ call and the well-organized, well-funded Koch-aligned activists who embrace open trade. In the next two years, the network aims to spend $300 million to $400 million on policy and political campaigns, officials said — up from $250 million during the 2016 elections.”  [Matea Gold and James Hohmann, Washington Post]

==========ORIGINAL MESSAGE==========

Dear Reader,

Hi, my name is John Kline. I’m the Customer Care Coordinator here at Agora Financial.

Thank you for your interest in our firm!

I’m contacting you because, according to our records, you began the process of requesting your free copy of Jim Rickards’ new book, The Road to Ruin: The Global Elites Secret Plan for the Next Financial Crisis. But for some reason your order was not completed.

Sometimes these things happen...

Maybe you don’t have the time to start a new book right now... or maybe you figured The Road to Ruin was something you might not want to read.

I certainly understand your decision... after all, there is only so much time in the day.

However, I’d like to ask you to reconsider...

Because Jim Rickards has just identified one of the biggest threats to your money in American history. It’s a secret, government plan to actually freeze everything you own.

If you own anything priced in U.S. dollars, you need to take action NOW.

Almost no one is talking about this story — not the political pundits on Fox News, not the talking heads on CNN and certainly no one in Congress.

But Jim has worked tirelessly to uncover the shocking facts about this story and he’s compiled all of his findings in this invaluable new book.

This is a direct threat to the future of America... your retirement... and the security of you and your family.

REMEMBER: The absolute worst-case-scenario — when the next crisis unfolds — is to do nothing at all, to be totally UNPREPARED.

And that’s exactly what The Road to Ruin will help you avoid.

In his new bookJim will show you what led to this terrifying, when it’s likely to occur, and how to navigate the tumultuous road ahead.

You see, through the great disasters and extreme crises of our time there have always been people who came out on top — wealthier than they had been before.

These people saw the crisis coming and took the right steps beforehand to prepare.

Wealth was simply transferred from the unprepared... to those who took action.

This time will be no different.

In The Road to Ruin Rickards provides specific and essential wealth-protecting ideas, techniques and strategies to help ensure you come out on top no matter what happens.

All you have to do is click here to fill out the form and find out how to claim your copy.

But that’s not all you’ll get...

Let us know you’d like to claim your free copy today and we’ll send you a Special Edition of The Road to Ruin containing even more essential wealth-building tips and strategies.

This Special Edition is NOT available at any bookstore or website.

You’ll also get a free 30-day trial subscription to Jim Rickards’ monthly service, called Jim Rickards’ Strategic Intelligence.

On the third week of every month Jim and his team will update you on the status of the markets, any risks they see in the financial system, and unique opportunities to help you retire early or protect the wealth you’ve already created.

Jim’s mission is simple: To help everyday Americans like you cut through the deception you’re being fed by political figures and economists... and to avoid — and prosper in — the next collapse that’s coming.

In the past, Jim only provided this kind of research to his high net-worth clients and members of the U.S. intelligence community.

Now, it’s available to you.

To get started with everything mentioned here right away, click here.

Keep in mind: These hardback Special Editions of The Road to Ruin are in limited supply and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

In an EMP attack - what's in your pocket decides your life.

An EMP attack stops every car, every line of communication, and it makes everything you have prepared for a survival situation - USELESS.

USELESS because you may not be at home or have transportation to get home to retrieve your preparation supplies.

So the tools in your pocket will be all you'll have to survive.

Reach into your right or left pocket right now - what's in it?

Do the contents in your pocket prepare you to survive an EMP blast, car crash, or any disaster if you are not at home because 9 times out of 10 you won't be at home.

If they don't - Frank Mitchell has a tiny solution for you.

This former army commander, that trusted his life to the tools he had on his vest and in his pockets built the perfect SOS pocket survival kit.

Each Altoid-sized case holds 6 critical survival tools and as Frank’s family survival promotion they're free today, just take care of the shipping cost.

Grab your tiny S.O.S. pocket survival kit here.

Do it quickly - they usually move fast.

-Lou Prep.

P.S. Always keep this S.O.S. kit in your pocket. The 6 survival tools he's fit inside this pocket sized tin are remarkable - take a peek below:

Yes, There Is Such a Thing as ‘Too Dumb for Government Work’

Jim Geraghty

We don’t know that there was any collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government during the 2016 presidential campaign. What we do know now is that if given the opportunity to collude with the Russian government — in the form of an offer of “some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia” that is “obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump,” Donald Trump Jr. would say, “I love it especially later in the summer.”

This is really bad. This may or may not be a crime; because there was, as far as we know, no actual “damaging information” offered at the meeting. But this is nuclear-level bad judgment.

For starters, did Donald Trump Jr. really not recognize the danger here? Does he think the Russian government does much that Vladimir Putin and the FSB doesn’t know about? At any point, did it ever cross his mind that he might be stepping into a blackmail plot on the part of the FSB?

And why didn’t it disturb, bother, worry, or unnerve him to hear that the Russian government was “supporting” his father? Vladimir ...

What Washington's Talking About

A Conspiracy of Dunces

“There can now be no doubt: The Russia meddling story is not just smoke but fire. Donald Trump Jr.’s interactions with Russians during last year’s presidential campaign were abnormal and alarming. An incriminating email chain has made it impossible for the administration to deploy its always flimsy argument of last resort — that the whole story is just ‘fake news.’” [Editorial, Washington Post]

“In the daisy chain from Russian oligarch to singer to PR go-between to lawyer to Trump scion, which is more plausible? That Don Jr. was canny enough to coordinate a global plot to rig the election but not canny enough to notice that this plot was detailed in his personal emails? Or that some Russians took advantage of a political naif named Trump in an unsuccessful bid to undermine the Magnitsky law they hated?” [Editorial, Wall Street Journal]

“Here is a good rule of thumb for dealing with Donald Trump: Everyone who gives him the benefit of the doubt eventually regrets it.” [Ross Douthat, New York Times]

Today's Headlines

But … his emails. I’m Davan Maharaj, editor-in-chief of the Los Angeles Times. Here are some story lines I don’t want you to miss today.

TOP STORIES

From Russia With ‘I Love It’
Donald Trump Jr. says he “probably would have done things a little differently.” Legal experts are debating whether what he did was a crime. Democrats have denounced it, even bringing up potential treason. Republicans are mostly mum. After all the talk of Hillary Clinton’s emails during the campaign, who’d have guessed Trump Jr.’s would be the focus now? The exchanges show that his friend said a “Russian government attorney” had information that would incriminate Clinton — and that this was “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” Trump Jr.’s written response? “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”

So, Was It a Crime?
Federal law makes it a crime for any person to “solicit, accept or receive” a contribution or “anything of value” from a foreign person for a U.S. political campaign or “for the purpose of influencing any election for federal office.” It includes an “express or implied promise” to give something of value. Veteran legal reporter David G. Savage breaks down the arguments both sides are making in l’affaire Trump Jr.

More Politics
— Congress members are expected to approve a new budget plan that would maintain funding for a West Coast earthquake early warning system that President Trump’s budget sought to slash.
— Christopher Wray, Trump’s choice to replace fired FBI Director James B. Comey, goes before senators for his confirmation hearingtoday.
— For French President Emmanuel Macron, hosting Trump later this week is a chance to chip away at U.S. isolation.

When One Candidate Investigates the Other
Orange County Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas once groomed senior prosecutor Todd Spitzer as his successor. Seven years ago, he fired him. Now, as the two look to face off in a 2018 election for the D.A. job, their relationship is even more complicated: Spitzer has been the subject of an investigation by Rackauckas’ office and state authorities, according to four sources familiar with the probe.

Too Much TV Is Bad for Emmy Voters’ Health
The Emmy nominations come out Thursday morning and are looking to honor the best of prime-time American TV. But with so many choices spread across network, cable and streaming platforms, who has time to watch them all? To come up with the list, Emmy voters initially faced a record-breaking 848 programs and 2,382 performers. TV critic Lorraine Ali says “it’s this very glut of good shows that makes the Emmys more relevant than ever … or perhaps more useful.”

Graph of increase in Emmy contenders

L.A. 2024 or 2028? Let the Guessing Games Begin
Olympic officials have decided to award L.A. and Paris the 2024 and 2028 Summer Games, as long as the cities can agree on who will go second. Veteran Olympics watchers say that, if you had to make a bet on it, Los Angeles is more likely to accept 2028, as long as it can get some financial considerations for waiting. Those would be all the more significant, given concerns about the massive cost of staging the Games.

ONLY IN CALIFORNIA

Bakersfield already has a street named after Merle Haggard, who popularized the “Bakersfield sound” in country music. Now the House of Representatives has voted to name a post office in his hometown after the late singer. Given that Haggard was inspired by watching Johnny Cash perform at San Quentin, though, some wonder if a more fitting memorial would be a prison.

Dear Fellow American,

Last year’s election was one of the most polarizing in our lifetime.

Donald Trump won, but what if there had been another choice?

Recently a large-scale polling group asked Americans a very interesting question.

Would you allow an Obama 3rd term?

Check out the results… I think you’ll be surprised.

Regards,

Alan Hollman

P.S. How about you? Would you love another 4 years of Obama? Or are you happy that he’s gone?

See for yourself.
