Subject: Club Update. Reunion Reminder

Hi AMEC Friends!

I hope you’re all enjoying the season. I’d like to share a few important updates about AMEC and what’s ahead.

As many of you know, AMEC has begun winding down its activities. You are all invited to attend our Racer’s Reunion Banquet on January 3, 2026, which will also serve as our annual banquet. This event will replace our regular January meeting, so there will be no January Zoom meeting. We hope you’ll join us in person for what promises to be a special evening.

AMEC’s slowdown is the result of two main challenges:

·         Climate change, which has made it increasingly difficult to count on consistent, safe ice for racing.

·         A shortage of members willing to step into officer roles and take on the work required to run the club.

That said, AMEC is not finished yet.

At the January 3rd banquet, we will be electing officers for the upcoming year. These officers will take office on April 1 and serve a one-year term. Depending on who steps forward, these positions may either help guide the club through an orderly wind-down—or, if we have committed and enthusiastic volunteers, help keep AMEC active and moving forward.

While recent weather has been colder than usual, cold weather alone is not enough to hold ice races. Ice racing requires a significant amount of planning, organization, and leadership. We will not be able to hold races this winter unless we have highly motivated officers willing to take on that responsibility. Past AMEC officers are ready to help and mentor anyone interested, but we need to hear from potential officers this week. If no one steps forward, the club will continue to wind down.

If you are interested in becoming an officer or would like more information about what the roles involve, please contact:

·         Allen Pashley at apa...@gmail.com

·         Dave Burnham at Raci...@nycap.rr.com

If you would like to attend the Racer’s Reunion Banquet, please email Dave Burnham at Raci...@nycap.rr.com. We already have 141 people registered, making this one of the largest banquets we’ve ever held—and we’d love to see you there.

Thank you for your support, enthusiasm, and many years of dedication to AMEC.

Happy Holidays,

Allen Pashley
President, AMEC
