Of course. Wait on the video issue because Kevin wants to talk to Neville about different layout options. Neville tried side by side but there are also other alternatives to keep portfolio but also regular posts for courtroom.

I understand - just want things to be easier in the future! I was trying to look up ways of fixing the video problem in the portfolio setting last night and today I learned that we aren't doing it anymore. Nobody's fault (you guys probably didn't know about it till this morning too), but it just helps streamline things in the longer run.

Thanks - it will be easier to if cc each other on these emails going forward, just so that we dont have to update each other individually (especially since this is a cross-state team). I'll wait for the doc that was gong to be sent out.

Thanks!

Hi Kevin and Ashley,

I spent some time plying with the portfolio feature today, and I agree that it is cool. The layout you had with pop-up videos looks great.

Unfortunately, as you figured out, the Portfolio doesn't play nicely with videos that aren't from YouTube or Vimeo. That's a deal-breaker. We need to be able to embed iFrames, flash videos, and others that some from governments, courts, TV stations, etc.

I tried to see if we can have two-columns, one of YouTube videos and one of everything else, but it didn't work out.

So, Watch is back to being a section of blog posts. Please recreate any portfolio posts you made as blog posts. Please also update all of the existing blog posts with a featured image. I'm going to send a separate email on this, but from now on, all posts should have featured images. The featured images should be at least 800 px wide and should be cropped to an aspect ratio of 2:1 (twice as wide as they are tall).

Best,

Neville

Neville,

We have recently been running into some trouble with our current watch page layout, and after some research I think the best way to display videos would be to use the portfolio feature.  This way we could have the videos appear in columns and when you click on one it can open up within the screen and play.  I don't know a lot about portfolios, as this is the first time I've ever tried to do anything with them, but from what I can tell they work similarly to posts.  So it looks like we can make posts with videos in them in the portfolio section and then have the appropriate short code on the watch page to have everything show up how we want it.  Would you be able to make two portfolio categories Courtroom and LS TV?

Also, I may be wrong, but it seems like you may have turned the caching feature on because when I make changes they are not immediately reflected on the website.  If this is the case, I think it would be better for us to have that off, especially while we are making major changes to the watch page.

If you have any additional information about how portfolios work I would really appreciate that as well.

Thank you,
Kevin Rizzo
