Hey Everyone,
I spoke with John about the Digest tab, the Money tab, and the Off Hours blog.
Digest:
John said that the name "Digest" will be kept for now. It may be subject to change in the future but what is important right now is the content.
- Digest will be exactly what we have envisioned it to be before; nothing has changed except the format.
- The Digest Landing Page will contain all of the topical sections we have decided on and may include more as we see fit. Right now the topics are:
- Intellectual Property
- Criminal
- Corporate
- Real Estate
- Constitutional
- Potential Others: Entertainment; Immigration; Employment
- As far as the actual post goes the format will follow this guideline:
- Featured Photo; Topic Title underneath
- Each entry will begin with the Date
- Underneath the date you will be the title of the story you
have that pertains to your topic;
- It should be in Bold and Underlined.
- Underneath the title will be a short description of the story.
- No more than 3-4 sentences;
- Hyperlink to the article including original author
and source
- Ex: Robb Antony [Huffington Post]
- Finally you will include a Legal-Ease Section underneath
each entry.
- Make sure to separate Legal-Ease from entry
- This section will include descriptions of any
legal terms or issues discovered in each entry;
this is your entry and can be in your words
(PLAIN ENGLISH).
For a model look to the Corporate Law Digest by COB Today.
Money:
This tab is SEPARATE from Digest; It is it's own section.
This tab may include a Money blog but as Winston mentioned earlier; this tab will be including:
- Who are the players? Who are the movers?
- How much do they earn? What is their position?
The New York Times: Dealbook article a few days ago is the type of story we are looking for in this section. See below.
Off Hours Blog:
This is our new Rundown.
What this section will contain is light-hearted; upbeat; humourous news and articles that will grab the attention of law students and young lawyers.
We could include articles about hot new shows, books, networking events, etc.
We could also continue to populate this section with Buzzfeed-esque articles but the idea we had about going to events and reviewing them is also now a mission for this site. (Someone in NY could talk about the Century Foundation events we just attended).
We can also review books about the law and politics (Like Jonathan Alter's book "The Center Holds").
We can even talk about different events happening at our respective law schools; cities; and groups/clubs.
This can be our traffic generator in the beginning so let's keep this cool and hip.
Where Digest and Money will be our Serious side; Off Hours is our Not-so-serious side.
Sorry for the long e-mail guys. Let me know if you have any questions about any of this.
Best,
Robb Antony
