dunno if there's anything notable in the log, but after falling down a
shaft, and then climbing back up into the dungeon i fell out of, the game
became unplayable, everything got jerky and slow.

I think it got slow because it was processing all the monsters on both
levels from then on. Need to do some optimization here, or else just limit
the AI to monsters on current level.
