Dear SuperCollider Users and Developers,

The Music Department at Wesleyan University will host a SuperCollider Symposium from March 27 - 29, 2020. Details may be found at http://supercollider.wesleyan.edu.  James McCartney will be giving the keynote address.

If you are considering attending, please create an account on the conference site.  We would like to make the site the primary source of information to avoid spamming mailing lists and news groups with announcements.

If you have any questions please email us at scsympo...@gmail.com.

James' talk will focus on his new software development effort.  He describes the project as follows:

It is more functional and less object oriented.

It draws on ideas from APL: all values are possibly multidimensional and all operations automatically map over multidimensional values. This is like having multi-channel expansion everywhere.

It may not have a textual syntax. I'm interested in a paradigm where the user interface is the code, and is as expressive, or more so, as textual code. It should be as quick or quicker to write as textual code. I intend to use the keyboard primarily to create and edit the code and not require drag and drop.

All code is stored in a database with lossless, unlimited undo/redo history.

Compiled, not interpreted.

No pre-compiled unit generators. Able to express code at the DSP level directly.

Thanks!
