The meetup group is about to be closed for lack of an organizer.

I've just joined, and there's been no activity, so I haven't been to any of the group's meetings. Is there any interest I keeping this going?

Hi Graham

Still waiting for somebody to pick up the next 6 month tab, I did it for the last round.
I'm looking into the possibility of switching the whole thing over to an Outlook group, seems like it would be just as useful, if a bit less easy to discover. But at least free...

Cheers

It's $10/15 a month? I'll pick that up for 6 months, provided there are meetups.

How would I go about that?

Thanks for the offer!  I'll be glad to chip in a 20.. we've been in a meeting space search mode for a while, were at NYU, then the Woolworth bldg, Tekserv, etc., currently I'm tying to secure a meeting space at the Godard center on 91st & Columbus.  If you have any quiet city spots to recommend, please do!
I can add you as an admin to the list, that's necessary for you to cover the site payment.  I'm sure there are others in the group who will also pony up a few bucks once we set a mtg date.
You should get a notify shortly from meetup

Actually, I think all you have to do is hit the 'step up' button when you open the group page.  I seem to have dropped off as an organizer.  If that doesn't work, Tom Murphy or Dave Reeder should be able to promote you.

I have a studio in Newark, NJ, right off the path train. The studio has an awesome 30.2 sound system and enough space for all of us.

We could meet there every one in a while is there is interest.

Hi Wolfgang, thanks for the offer! Due to most folks time constraints based on past meetings, Newark would probably be a stretch for meetings on a regular basis. ..it's hard enough to get people to show up in midtown ;-). But it would also make sense to have localized groups that were conveniently located that meet regularly, plus a larger consolidated group for the occasional powwow. Any other users in the Newark environs?

I've "stepped up". Ponied up for 6 months just so we don't lose the name (to those damn SC users in Shelbyville).

What kind of numbers are likely to show up for a meetup? What kind of space do we need?

Generally on a typical day we get from 4-6, have had as many as 10-12 in some of our tekserv sessions.  Highly dependent on day of week and time. Usually we were doing once or twice a month, first and/or third Weds., but that's always up to the whims of the group. If I can land Gdard, we'll be somewhat up to their schedule's mercy, but again if anybody has a good space in town (Newark is certainly a possibility if people are willing to brave good ol Path), feel free to propose.
Thanks for pitching in!  Do you have a paypal account I can pop a 20 over to?

Hi all -- apologies, I was on vacation and this email slipped by.

I'm very, very down to restart meetings -- I've got several months of things I've been saving up to talk about!

Graham - thanks for chipping in. I haven't chipped in yet so I'll split this one with you.

Do we have a venue? If not, my work (near Atlantic/Barclays in Brooklyn) is probably available for meetings. I'm also willing to travel a bit if people are thinking about meeting in Jersey!

Tom

Do we still have the Soho office space available? That seemed very promising....
BTW, I've been invited to Seoul to present a weird hybrid thing I've cooked up that uses the helmetron, tektonic plate and dark mirror all in one! Going 10/13-10/23. If I can't make some interesting stuff happen with all that stuff I'll hang up my s.boots for good ;-)
