Someone is replacing this board in an Insignia TV; it's from the power supply. There's a melted component on the board and we have no idea what it is but it sure looks weird. What is this thing?
Upper left, flat disk with a rectangle over it. Six pins, says 110031ND and TDK X 0943. Here's a pic of the whole board at the link below, you can mouse over to embiggen.

Fwiw, he's replacing the board entirely but we'd like to round out our knowledge of electronic components.

To me, it looks like a transformer or at the very least
some inductive part;

It looks like, potentially, that part of the circuit board
is part of a switching power supply.

TDK does make inductors and interesting inductors, but could
not find part.

That looks like the primary transformer for the supply.  YOu are correct that this is a switching supply.  I came up with my answer based on the bridge rectifier bolted to the heatsink to the left of the device you are questioning.  This is typical switching supply design.The big transistor to the right is the switch.

Thanks, that makes sense. This board was nice to look over, it's more clearly labeled and widely spaced than most that I've seen.
