FREE Technician, General and Amateur Extra ham radio licensing exams
will be offered by the Kings County Repeater Association on a bi-
monthly basis beginning in April.  The club is now affiliated with the
Laurel VEC which does not charge a fee for exam administration.  And
since the FCC does not charge a fee for issuing the license your only
cost would be for study materials and transportation to the testing
site.  For full information visit the club web site at http://www.kc2ra.org
and click on item 5 in the scrolling banner.  You must be pre-
registered to take an exam.

I am not heading up the team so can't say for sure, but the way I
figure it you can never have too many Extras, figuratively or
literally. There is a mandatory training session, that needs to be
rescheduled so you haven't missed it, to become a Laurel VE. If you
are interested I would suggest showing up at the club meeting on the
third Tuesday of the month (20Mar) when you can talk with Gary, the VE
coordinator or send email expressing your interest to
info[at]kc2ra[dot]org. Meeting information is on the club Web site,
www.kc2ra.org
