It took me several tries at the Genius bar to get them to recognize that it was a GPU issue. Be persistent.

It may be fixable. I have a heat gun and IR thermometer; as soon as I have some free time I'm going to attempt to repair a friends T61p which has the same issue. Got an old toaster oven lying around? :P
