Home Depot and Loew's both failed me recently on deliveries... I'd like to order from a NY metal supplier but I don't know who they are... I found one in Astoria and one in LIC but both seemed to be 2x-3x the price of Loews. I need 1/4" x 2". I was grabbing 5 bars of 6' length (about $25 per bar), so total of about 30'. if they offer cutting to size, it'll save me a bit of work too :) i don't care about chemical purity, just lightweight, rigid aluminum extrusion for some diy building.

thanks for any suggestions.

On line hardware store with easy to use website. Order by 6 pm and
will be delivered next day. Prices are reasonable for stock and
extrusion given the turnaround. There is cheaper but you'd have to
wait longer.

I've gotten steel from Eastern Steel for a reasonable price if you want to head out to the east brooklyn industrial park. They have aluminum too.

Not sure about delivery, but they have an outside receptacle specifically for cutting the materials down on the spot if you bring your angle grinder.

I recently did a project where I used 8020. The online catalogue is
sort of a pain to navigate, but they do seem to have a lot of stuff -
many different types of pipe, and many different types of connectors.
We used 1010 stock, and it was great. I think it was 25c / inch of
the 1010 stuff, and the connector brackets ran about 3 bucks apiece.

I couldn't figure out how to get pricing on the site, so I called up a
distributor (they've got a distributor lookup on their site).

Hadco or Yarde metals. Both deliver, but I don't know what their minimums are...

If you call Hadco, ask for Joe Baptiste, he should be able to help you.

Mcmaster is good - and can ship up to 6' stock using UPS. but You'll probably pay a biggish shipping charge.

I just made an order from Hadco last week - but sadly i didn't order enough 2x1/4 to be able to sell you some of mine.

Alpay,

What about Grainger? They deliver through UPS and are pick up only at Varick street, so that may not help you.  McMaster is what I usually go through.  Somedays it would best if it was set to my home page.
