Greetings all. Does anyone know a local source for small permanent magnet dc motors in the 12v range?

I'm experimenting with miniature power generation...  I am hoping to get some efficiency from a PM dc motor over the hobby motors that have been my placeholder thus far.

Grateful for any direction.  Enjoy your weekend everyone.

There is a  industrial grade dc motor store ın 29th Street between 7th and 8th ave. Granted ı wouldn't consider these small but might be worth checking out.

What's the name of that motor shop? i may bookmark that myself for future reference.

Anaheim Automation is decent stuff. I've used some of their stepper drivers and indexers.

Thanks Alp (cool name)... it's a shame, I was just around there (walked from Penn to home depot on 23rd) but I had no juice in my phone and couldn't check my email until now.  I might try swinging by tomorrow since I'll be closeby there. I'll report back on the name of the place as soon as I get over that way.

How miniature?

How about all the motors in a car?

Window motors, heater fan motor, windshield wiper, door locks, the big fans in front of the radiator etc

Plenty available new and used but the all have brushes to deal with. Some were shunt some were pm.

Some have gearboxes in the way but old pre 90's squirrel cage heater blower motors are simple.

Many EV bike assist motors were really ford electric radiator fan motors  with an overrunning clutch added

Ive always preferred to use large steppers with two bridge rectifiers as a pretty hefty power source. Seemed pretty efficient even at low speeds

Driven them from a Small water turbine and miniature windmill

There's also a baby john Deere alternator available. It's belt driven and has a pm core. Feels like a stepper when you turn it by hand. That cogging was a problem in a wind mill.

I may still have one around if you want pics and the part number. I had it as a spare for my tractor

Best regards,
Bob
