Hey NYCResistor, I am visiting NY from London Hackspace and really looking to get to know as many makers and techies in New York as possible. I am flying out tomorrow and I am also looking for a place to stay for a few days. It would be amazing if anyone could host a friendly hackspace member for a couple of days in the next week or so? I am really looking forward to attending: http://www.ecohacknyc.org/ and meet up with people working in or interested in IoT.
On the hardware / making side of things, I helped maintain the hackspace makerbot (cupcake) in the early days (it has since been totally rebuilt by another member) and built a reprap mendel with 3 other hackspace members and also loved helping to reverse engineer a Stratasys 3D Printer (we eventually fixed it and it is still running). I trained as an Electronic Engineer but I am a Firmware Engineer by profession, (mainly C but also some asm) writing software for medical devices. Then I worked for another company designing, testing and building wireless sensor networks and data collection systems to reduce the energy usage in factories. All pretty cool stuff. I was part of the team that launched the opensource microcontroller kit: Nanode and I co-founded Sukey (theses are both really cool but different projects that I love). So that's me! Most recently I have been participating in http://springofcode.org/
Thanks!

Hi Sam,

Thanks for dropping a note. Looking forward to seeing you at Ecohack! (I'm in upstate, not NYC, so it won't be before then unfortunately).

Cheers
Dirk
