Hi folks,

Does anyone have suggestions where would be a good cheap place to get a
spool of CAT-5, wall-mounted network jacks, and assorted and sundry in
Manhattan or Brooklyn? I normally recommend Lendy's or Midtown Electrical,
but neither is particularly cheap. Home Depot is cheap but has a limited
selection. Thoughts?

i'm sure someone has better knowledge of places to get whole spools but
i have found good prices at Datavision in midtown for lengths of 25',
50', and 100'. I was actually surprised at how cheap it was (though i
don't remember exactly right now). and they have a lot of networking
goods but i'm not sure if the have wall mounted hardware of any kind.
maybe, maybe not. http://www.datavis.zom

the company i used to work for would order and get cable run from
http://www.cablesandchipsinc.com

they are a non profit so the budget was pretty tight. good luck!

If you're running cables through the wall, might as well use cat6. I purchased a 1,000 foot roll, along with wall mount plates, and tool-less jacks from monoprice.com
