Hello,
I have a couple of photos of my donation box below:
(This is just what I've come up with so far...)

Thanks for all your help.

Subject: Re: [NYCR:Microcontrollers] craft night - question
Hello Moto + Ranjit!
Thank you so much for your replies!
As I've been totally split myself between other efforts to support Japan (for instance, trying to locate the 'now-scarcely-avail' Potassium Iodide tabs to ship over there, etc.) & my job, it has become a bit tough to show up tonight's craft night (but most definitely next week!) unfortunately.
However, Ranjit already suggested that he & maybe a few others can start experimenting (to make the boxes) as of tonight?! - THAT would be fantastic!!!
I'm attaching here (maybe the list would bounce or need approval for the attachment? but at least you two will get it) the basic format of text/logo/design we received from Japan Society.
The big one (relief sign.pdf) would be a bit too big for the size of boxes we're imagining (as most of the stores would spare minimum space to allow the box to sit.) I believe the text version (2-in-1 in letter size, "EarthquakeRel.pdf"), would be the perfect size (4.25W x 4.25L x 11H)?! Then, slit for notes & coins on top. Acrylic would look nice but I'm wondering if it'd cost too much?! But then, wood would be any cheaper?! (maybe...)
In the worst, hard cardboard is also fine. (I've seen such box at Sunrise mart in E. Village 3 days ago.)
Of course, if there are place(s) where I can ask for material donation, it'd be super! Is there anyone who can suggest such place?!
Your opinions are more than welcome!! Thank you!!!
Keiko

hello,
I can help with making acrylic or wooden laser-cut boxes. I have been learning from NYCR lately.
Do boxes need to be made with certain design?

Hello all!
It's been quite long while.
I'm writing this because I'm a part of a friends group trying to do something for the people in Tohoku region in Japan.
We are going to visit Japanese restaurants, cafes, other stores to place donation boxes. We also just got an approval and official labels from Japan Society to make all the donations through their relief funds for Tohoku disaster.
https://www.japansociety.org/japan_earthquake_relief_fund
So, we are to make bunch of the donation boxes a.s.a.p. but then, I thought about your craft night.
I'm wondering if some of NYCR people can help building the donation boxes with us on this Thurs?! More people can make more boxes!
It'd be very helpful - as we already noticed that it is effective to have a donation box for people who are not necessarily going to donate online but may consider if it is right there at their favorite restaurants/cafes etc.
Thank you so much if you'd approve such project brought in the craft night!
