hey all,

so I'm trying to get nanoloop 1.3 for my bro for xmas, but http://www.nanoloop.de/
seems to be constantly sold out, and they are rarely on ebay. howev,
nanoloop 2.3 is in stock, but I would need to buy a game boy advance
to use it (I already have a normal game boy.

1. Does anyone know anyone looking to sell a nanoloop 1.3 cart? Does
anyone know of a place other than http://www.nanoloop.de/ that sells
them for a reasonable price?

2. Does anyone have any experience with nanoloop 2.3? what do you
think of it vs 1.3?

3. Does anyone have a game boy ROM burner and some game boy carts?
In a pinch, or in addtion, I may try to buy and burn some LSDJ carts
myself. If multiple people are interested, maybe we can go in on a
ROM burner and some carts? If we think this would make a good NYCR
xmas business exploit, anyone care to team up?

BTW, if anyone hasn't see the Korg DS-10 cart for Nintendo DS, it is
kickass...see below
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/12/korg-ds-10-synth-turns-nintendo-ds-into-instrument-of-awesomenes/

buying my brother a Nintendo DS and the DS-10 is about out of my price
range this year...too bad.

I may be wrong, but I believe that nanoloop was a custom cart that incorporated some interesting use of flash memory to save tracks and loops as you work. It may not be able to be burned on a standard flash cart.

Hi everyone,

Make your own gameboy rom burner!

I tried making a gameboy rom burner many years ago - like 10.  I have it 90% finished, if someone wants to complete it, it's yours.  It's a wire-wrap project, but I think I did all the wirewrapping, you just need to add a few standard ICs (the sockets are already there).  If someone's interested, let me know and I'll try to dig it up and drop it off at the Resistor space.

I just tried finding the original schmatic, and I'm pretty sure it's on this page: http://www.ziegler.desaign.de/readplus.htm - I remember that ReadPlus was the software I'd intended to use.  I think it's this one: http://www.ziegler.desaign.de/cartio.gif.

That said, if I were starting from scratch, I'd definitely make this one: http://www.ziegler.desaign.de/GB-Flasher/schem+pcb/GB%20Cart%20Flasher%20(RS232).pdf - that looks like an easy beginner-level project that you can make in an hour or two - sounds like it would be fun for someone to coordinate the purchase of parts, and designate a date for everyone to come down and make them together.

That page also says where to buy cartridges, though they're not hard to make - you desolder the mask ROM off of a game that has a ROM equal to the size of your RAM (larger is better, obviously).  If you want to use binaries that save to SRAM, make sure the game has SRAM - the SRAM comes in 4K and 16K varieties, so a 16K game would be more versatile.  Zelda Link's Adventure is an ideal game (large ROM, large SRAM, very common).  Solder your new RAM in-place and you're done - I'm sure exact part numbers are on the site above.

I've also got a Gameboy Flash reader/writer that I bought a bunch of
years ago. It's one of the GB Xchanger units made by Bung Industries
(http://www.robwebb.clara.co.uk/backup/bung/bungxch.html). It
interfaces with a PC over a parallel port; I've not tried it out on a
system that's using a USB-to-parallel converter, so I'm not sure if
that would work. I'd be happy to let someone borrow it if they can
find or make a compatible Flash cart.

Hi Everone,
Cool .... Putting burner and dev kit back in closet.... please contact me I'm still interested in making Nano loop cart.   I am using LSDJ and NANO loop to make a portable battery powered midi drum brain using Megadrum.info trigger and standard e-drum heads.

Awesome...this is great news. Anyone interested in a meeting where we
could set up a meeting for fiddling around with the burners, carts,
and just exploring the software and making some noise? I may be able
to host this at NYC...just need to clear it first.

One thing I am concerned about is giving Nanoloop their due (if it is
in fact burnable). I emailed them to ask what I thought was a fair
price for DIY burn, but so far no one has gotten back to me. I don't
feel so hot about burning one without paying them, despite nanoloop
seeming rather pricey.

On the LSDJ side, what as everyone felt to be a fair donation?

Hi everybody -

If it's the sounds you're after there is a wonderful (and free!) VST available by the super-awesome YMCK:

It sounds pretty great.  I know it's not the same as having the cart, but tossing this in with your present might be a rad way to get the sounds into his sequencer without worrying about carrying an interface.

Lets see if we can get a package deal

I actually posed some sort of partnership to distribute in the US.
Haven't gotten a response yet, but I'll ask him about a package deal
as well. I don't know if he'll give a break on price given the
demand, but he may be willing to cut a deal on shipping if we ship a
bunch to one place

Who wants a nanoloop cart?

this just in...

-----
Hello

nanoloop 1.5 (successor of 1.3) should be available by december 6th.
Website & shop on www.nanoloop.com will be updated later this week
with details about the new version. I am sorry production took a
little longer than expected and the release originally scheduled for
november was delayed. I'll send another e-mail when it is actually in
stock.

Shipping usually takes a few days within Europe and 1-2 weeks to North
America.

Best Regards

Oliver Wittchow

anyone up for a group purchase to save on shipping? let me know and

Hmm - thought i replied to this before, but maybe I did offlist by
accident. I've gotten a legit copy of LSDJ running on a R4DS Advance
card in my nintendo DS, emulated under Lameboy. It sounds pretty darn
good!

I've only got regular ole gameboys, so it seems that only the regular
ole carts will work, lest I am mistaken.

Since nanoloop only works on nanoloop carts, I am going to buy two
(one for me, one for Skiff) or more tomorrow, depending who is
interested...
LAST CALL FOR PARTICPATION IN A BULK PURCHASE OF NANOLOOP 1.5!!! TO
BE PURCHASED SATURDAY 12/6!!!
(unless they don't have them or sell out)

Since LSDJ can be copied, I'm thinking of buying the transferer and
some blank carts here: http://www.consolegoods.co.uk/
I'm not interested in making my own burner at this point...just want
to burn the carts.

Ben Combee, do you think that your Xchanger will work with those
carts? if so, mind if I borrow it instead of buying one?

Does anyone else want to go in on some blank carts for LSDJ? We can
have a burnfest!!

Actually, it looks like this site will not only allow to buy carts,
but burn them for you with LSDJ for free, with other music kits as
well. And free first class shipping anywhere in the U.S!
http://kitsch-bent.embarqspace.com/#
http://kitsch-bent.embarqspace.com/#/32msmartcard/4528097481

Sounds like there is no need for a transferer, unless we want to make
our own apps.

nanoloop 1.5 release delayed til Dec 12th. Bah!

still, if anyone else wants to get in on the order, let me know.

On the subject of LSDJ, what are music kits or musical data? This guy
http://kitsch-bent.embarqspace.com/#/32msmartcard/4528097481 mentions
that he'll load kits on your LSDJ cart from here http://www.kitsch-bent.com/kit
These folks http://nonelectronics.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=2
say that they will load musical data on the cart for you. Are these
just samples and sounds?
