This is crossposted to the blog, so sorry for any redundancy!

Starting this weekend we’ll be working through the Introduction to
Algorithms course available through MIT’s OpenCourseWare project. MIT
OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a web-based publication of virtually all MIT
course content. OCW is open and available to the world and is a
permanent MIT activity.

We’ll start at 5pm and the lectures run about an hour and a half. The
time may shift a bit each week due to other classes happening at the
space, but we’ll post it on the calendar well in advance. The class
uses the text “Introduction to Algorithms” which you may want to pick
up or borrow from a friend. We’ll try to scrounge up a couple copies
to have on hand.

This event series is totally free to attend, and no registration is
needed, but if you enjoy it please consider donating to the MIT
OpenCourseWare project!

Ooh! I will be there, I hope. That book is awesome and Erik Demaine
who teaches it is awesome and the beginning of that course which I sat
in on once seemed awesome until I got too busy for it.

Oooooo $30 is damned near affordable! Nice find. That is indeed the
correct book.

I've found this to be useful for cheap books, especially textbooks:

http://www.fetchbook.info/

I found law school books so cheap on fetchbook that I actually made a
little money selling them back to the bookstore at the end of the
semester.

The lecture on Sunday went pretty well!

We started a mailing list specifically for this class,
http://groups.google.com/group/nycresistor-compsci
While it's intended for people who are coming to the lectures to
further the discussion / get help with the assignments, people who are
not attending the series in person are still welcome to read/post to
the group.

See folks next week!
