The Queen's Priest: The Life and Times of Edmund Campion

Veteran Irish actor Daniel Reardon has penned a play about Queen Elizabeth I and Edmund Campion the Jesuit Martyr, executed as a traitor on December 1 st , 1581. The play, in sonnet form, begins at the meeting of the queen and the professor at Oxford in 1566, to Campion's leading the doomed English Mission of the Jesuits, to his eventual arrest, torture, trial and execution. It features the magnificent turbulence and extravagance of the Elizabethan Age alongside Campion’s devout Ignatian Spirituality and personal courage.

The reading runs roughly 50 minutes and is being held at America Media, the Jesuit media ministry, whose patron saint is Edmund Campion.
