Dear All,

I hope you don't mind but in the interests of topic selection and
identification of message strings I have copied the discussion from
shaereable meeting that pertains to our new name and web site build
and design for the group into this new discussion. attachmensts and
links need to be extracted from shaerable magazine meeting thread but
maybe future discussion can happen under this new tittle for
clarification ?

Jennifer Lackey
I concur: NY Share Squared is much easier to write and more pleasing
to the eye. My eyes trip over NYcococo a bit. Typically I think one-
liner tag lines are the way to go. Often less is More. A couple more
suggestions to play off of Mr. Black: NY Share Squared When
communities share great things happen NY Share Squared When
communities share it means more NY Share Squared Community consumption
means more NY Share Squared Community collective greatness My .02,

I don't want to be greedy:) - i got 99% of the name I like.. but the
obsessive compulsive anal retentive part of me (it's a very small
part)
likes *Shared Squared *with the extra D for the symmetry (then they
both
SHARE more letters - also makes for some cooler design opportunities
if both
words start with S and end with D)
Shared Squared
Communities getting together.
(like actually getting together but also getting stuff, internet,
rides,
skills, etc together)

The English Major in me (close cousin to the obsessive-compulsive,
retentive
wing of the family) worries a bit about the past-tense, passive voice
of
"shared." It's a backwards-looking verb instead of a call to action. I
hear
a big difference between "share" and "shared."

I have to say that I agree with Adam here. The design possibilities
are
quite clever and memorable with the extra ed on share. not to mention
it
rolls off the tongue even better than share squared.
The tags don't hit me like thunder yet.

NY Shared Squared
The Community getting Communities together.
or the brevity play
NY Shared 2
Communities 2 Share
or
NY Shared 2
Community Sharing
The 2 should be super-script but I cant do that!

The Share Square
implies a public space for sharing also!
silly real but what we should be called is:
Market Share
?
but someone got there first!

I have to same I'm a fan of the present tense of Share Square
But what I DO like about Shared Squared is it differentiates from the
name
Four Square, which I wonder if people would confuse -but maybe that's
not
likely?

this new version is more about the layout and general content-
messaging can change quite easily - and of course this is just a
mockup until the real designers step in:)

Hey all...
here's a thought that's been formulating in my head for the past few
days.
This is in sketch form so by no means the final treatment but the
idea I
had was to allow the primary visual identity to take on the
characteristics
of the group's base purpose. What any good logo should do is tell a
quick
story about who you are in an interesting way.
This could be squared shared OR square shared...it works either way.
The
mark takes the two words and they physically share the same elements
to
create both words in a space where they work together to depict an
economical shared use of their forms. It can be read as one
word...but it
can also be easily read as two by simply making smart choices about
tone and
form in its presentation.
I realized like last night that I'm moving offices this weekend so I
can
spend a lot more time with this after that happens but this idea
sticks with
me because the arrival at it came from imagining the identity through
the
eye's of the basic ethic of the endeavor and presenting that identity
in the
form of those word plays you used to see as kids where they'd make
phrases
out of cleverly arranged words but you had to read them literally.
anybody
remember those? loved those things.
Cheers,
Cristian.
