Hello Everyone!

Here is a brief recap of the 1st Capital Divisional Meeting.

A. NY District News

1. Dues Incentive
-- First five clubs to submit dues will get a $25 gift card to a local pizza parlor for a Club Pizza Party.
-- Club with greatest percentage increase in membership from last year wll receive a free registration to DCON '10.

2. NY Speaking Six Cents Fundraiser
Team Imran (Lt. Gov from Empire Division) and Team Kristen (Past International President and current Sub-region F Rep) will raise money for the 6 Cents Initiative.  The team that raises the lesser amount of money will have his/her hair dyed BLUE at NY Speaking '09.  The flyer can be found online.  

3. NYCKI Outstanding Club of the Month
This is a new initiative to recognize clubs that do an amazing job.  Application is online and is due to Gov. Mike [michae...@gmail.com] by the 27th of the month.

4. District Vacancies
Currently the position of District Editor is still vacant.  If you are interested, please send a letter of intent and sample work to Gov. Mike [michae...@gmail.com]
Additionally, the Northern and Western Divisions still do not have Lt. Governors.  If you know CK'ers from those divisions, please encourage them to think about taking on these leadership positions.


B. Capital Division News


1. Division Project & Incentive
-- The Capital Division Project is "Children's Health : Capital's Concern".  See the Sept. Issue of Capital Chit Chat for more info [link is below].
-- The club that does the most number of hours /member on service projects & fundraisers that focus on the Division Project will get an Ice Cream Social party at the end of the year!

2. Division Positions
Division Project Chair and Division Secretary positions are open.  The Division Project Chair would be responsible for working with the Lt. Governor to plan at least on division-wide service project per semester as well as publish a Division Project Service Guide with service project ideas and contacts for service organizations clubs can use to plan their own service projects. 
Division Secretary would be responsible for taking minutes at all Capital Divisional Meeting as well as taking attendance at these Meetings and any Division-wide service projects. 
Applications are online and are DUE Wed Sept 30th.

3. Google Reflector
I have created a google reflector for all members of the Capital Division and those interested in keeping upto date on all happenings within the division. 
I am working on chartering a club at Siena College; if you know anyone who currently attends that school please tell them about Circle K!

C. Club News


1. ACC
The cub fair last week was pretty successful and they are having their first meeting this Friday at 12:30pm.  This year is definitely looking up!

2. HVCC
The club had only one returning member from the spring and so held it elections this afternoon.  The club also had a successful bake sale last week and helped out at the Reunion this past weekend. 

3. RPI
This club is keeping busy! They helped out with a Tory beautification last weekend and started volunteering at the Troy Boys & Girls club in addition to other continued projects.  Their main upcoming event is the Haunted House on Sat. 10/24 to raise money for Joseph's House & Shelter.

4. Russell Sage
The club has decided to have business meetings alternate with service meetings.  They helped out with Sagefest this past weekend and have plans to volunteer at the Animal Shelter, prepare community meals at the YWCA, and help at the Food Bank.  The club has a few new interested freshmen and is excited about that!

5. St. Rose
This club is still inactive.  I attended a Student Association meeting in April and have not yet heard of any interest in restarting the club.
 
6. U Albany
This club had it's first meeting last week.  They have a lot of upcoming walks that they will be participating in and are still planning some events for the semester.  They will host the 2nd Capital Divisional Meeting on Sun Sept 25th.

D. Reminders

1. Tomorrow Fund Grant Applications
Tomorrow Fun Grants are being accepted and the application can be found online
If your club needs money for a project that they are doing, apply! Grants range from $200 to $2000.
Applications are DUE December 1st
 
2. NY Speaking Host Club Application
The applicion for being a host club for NY Speaking is available online.  If your club is interested in helping with behind the scenes duties of making the conference run smoothly, be sure to apply! 
Applications are DUE Friday, Oct. 9th!


E. Upcoming Events


1. Step Out for Diabetes Walk
Saturday, Oct 3 :: various times
Cook Park in Colonie
Help is needed for set up & registration early on in the event; or you can set up a team and walk during the event

2. Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
Saturday, Oct 3 :: 9am
Empire State Plaze, Madison Ave Albany
Help is needed for the event, a list of volunteer opportunites is found online, as well as the participation & waiver form.

3. Division Leadership Training Conference (for all club officers)
Sunday, Oct. 4th :: 2-4pm
HVCC Campus Center Room 259 :: Troy NY
This training is for all club officers.  A flyer with more detailed info can be found online.

4. NY Speaking
The annual NY District fall conference will be Fri Oct 30th - Sun Nov 1st at the Georgian Inn in Lake George NY.
It's a great way to meet other Circle K members as well as learn more about the organization and what you can do as a member or officer to benefit your club.
