Hey all.

I'm contemplating putting on a school this summer along with some people at SoHo Haven that'll cram bottom up CS and top down web building knowledge into people.

anyone game to help out or bounce the curriculum ideas around sometime later this week?

I have a chunk of a site going...

thanks.

Yeah I would love to do something like that.  Check out the 10-minute Ruby lessons I've started here at Dogpatch Labs.

That's a really awesome idea. I'd be interested in covering some of the "bottom-up CS" or Comp. Eng.

* Von Neuman Machines
* Programming Language Theory (Grammars, LL vs LR vs LALR, etc)
* Data Structure & Algorithms
* Beginning AI (Uninformed Search, Informed Search, A* Search)
* Computation Theory (Turing Machines, DFAs, NFAs, etc)

Cheers,
Charlie

this is a very cool idea. I actually taught for a semester at SVA and would consider trying my hand at it again. My preference / expertise would be JS web architecture

A) All this interest rocks.
B) You all game to meet up tomorrow evening and explore the current thinking/how to incorporate your all's interest into the trajectory/refine the trajectory/etc?  If we can 'get it right' we could build something rather cool out of this.

Swift bar @ 7 work?

Talk soon.

No worries.
it is going to move forward, and actually meeting with some other ppl tomorrow @ 7 @ Swift Bar (again) for a little bit if you're interested.

I'll do a fuller follow up with everyone in a bit.

Semi-separately, a couple of us are going to work on our various projects Saturday.

Talk soon.

I'm definitely interested in following this and contributing small discrete pieces of work, even though I can't allocate time to contribute continuously. I'll try to stop by at 7 tonight, but if we could post meeting summaries to the list, it would be really helpful, as well.

Sorry I couldn't make it tonight (looking forward to a summary if anyone can spare the time for one), but thought y'all might enjoy this tidbit from Alan Kay while we're on the topic of education:

While we're on the topic of CS and education, that's an excellent blog, that one.
