Hi all! I am writing to share an opportunity for educators to work with Democracy Now!’s education program, Teach Democracy Now!. Here is more information from Kouross Esmaeli, who is helping to restart their program after a hiatus:

If you’d like to continue to get updates about Teach Democracy Now!’s education program, please fill out our brief questionnaire:  Click HERE to get future updates.

Teach Democracy Now! will offer two programs this fall.  First, we will resume our class visits. Class visits introduce students to independent journalism through the work of Democracy Now! and offer a workshop to provide students with tools to critically analyze our news and media landscape. Host and Executive Producer, Amy Goodman, and show guests frequently participate in these workshops. For educators in and around NYC, we invite you to bring your students to our Chelsea studios to observe the live production of our show followed by an in-person workshop.  For educators outside of NYC, we provide a virtual classroom where students can watch that day’s program or selected segments, depending on the time you have allotted for your class, followed by a virtual workshop. We are currently prioritizing high school, college and post-graduate classes for visits.

Second, we will be drawing on our daily shows and archives to produce curricula that can be included in your lesson plans. We welcome the opportunity to work with you to develop new teaching materials geared for your classroom needs.

If you are ready to schedule a class visit or to start collaborating on creating lessons with our content, please let us know by filling out the questionnaire and we will follow up with scheduling information.

Please contact me with any questions and feel free to forward this email to colleagues who would be interested in connecting with us. We are looking forward to working with you to bring our independent news program into classrooms and other educational spaces.
