Submit a session here. What presentation format are we looking for?
We are seeking proposals for 45-minute educational breakout sessions that relate to scholastic journalism and student media.
NHSJC breakout session attendance is first-come, first-served, so we are seeking flexible presentations that can accommodate any group size, with standard AV and room set needs.
While the exact presentation format is up to you, we value sessions that provide an engaging, high-energy experience. We are especially interested in sessions that are interactive, hands-on and tailored to our attendance base, which is about 80% middle and high school students.
What topic should I speak on?
Please read through our topic guide on the speaker portal. While we welcome any submission related to student media, we are especially seeking sessions that cover any of the following topics:

- Editor-in-chief training or student leadership skills
- Literary magazine
- Middle school media programs
- Newspaper or newsmagazine
- Non-yearbook design
- Online news, social media and marketing
- Practical and hands-on photojournalism skills
- Sports journalism and photography
- Writing and editing
- and more...
How do I submit my proposal?
First, you'll create a speaker account and then you'll complete a short application by Jan. 30 to submit your session. The speaker portal offers full instructions and details on what information will be needed.
If you aren't yet sure if you'll be able to attend, please don't let that stop you from submitting on time. If needed, you can edit your proposal or withdraw your application later, but we are unable to guarantee acceptance of late submissions.
