This year, numerous scholastic journalism organizations and newspaper advisers are working together to create an intervisitation series. The goal is to have students from various newsrooms around the city visit a host site to learn about that school's newspaper, its work flow, its current pieces in progress, and more. Here is a general overview of how the day will work:

MORNING SCHEDULE:
  1. The host students will:

      1. Walk visitors through their workflow/publication schedule/positions

      2. Share a sample of published pieces they are proud of and present on the process that brought the piece to publication

      3. Discuss works in progress & goals for the year

    1.  The host advisor will:

      1. Provide an overview of what’s changed/important trends for the paper

    2. The host team will:

      1. Hold a Q&A session

  2. LUNCH

    1. During lunch students will be paired with their counterparts (editors-in-chief from multiple schools, photo editors, sports editors, etc.) to eat and discuss their respective roles.

  3. AFTERNOON SCHEDULE:

    1. The guests (and hosts) are given space to hold a team meeting and generate ideas based on what they got out of the morning session/lunch session. It could be article ideas, ideas for how to change workflow, etc.

    2. Shareout: Each team shares out their ideas/plans generated in the previous meeting.

    3. Awards: We would like to have each host site review some strong work from guest papers and offer certificates/commendations to participating students.

If you are interested in participating in the first session, please fill out this form. If you do not think you can make it but would like to know about future options, also fill out the form. And if you'd like to possibly host one day, please fill out the form too.
