What: NYC High School Journalism Staff Retreat

When: Monday, May 18, 2026 | 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM | UFT Headquarters (52 Broadway New York, NY 10004)

Press Pass NYC and what we hope will become a true NYC Scholastic Press Association(!) are excited to bring NYC public school student journalist and advisers together for this day of collaborative sharing and learning.  Throughout the day's three sessions, students will be grouped with student journalists from various schools and will share ideas, practices and teambuilding traditions. Advisers will also be grouped with teachers from different schools to learn from one another. 

Our goal: To promote community-building and collaboration and host a forum for exchange of ideas, empowering students to return to their schools with plans to grow and enhance their school newspapers.    

Because our interest form received over 30 responses (!), we're asking each school to bring up to 8 students and 1-2 advisers. Once registration closes, we may have room for additional students. You can indicate below if you’d like to bring more — we’ll gladly accommodate as space allows.

The conference will run from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with the first 30 minutes for arrival, setup, and mingling. We know travel from different boroughs can take some time, and we want everyone to arrive comfortably before we begin the program promptly at 10:00.

Please complete this form by Friday, May 8, so we can finalize logistics.

At the same time, please upload a signed waiver for each student to this folder.
